And lets not forget in 2004 Blair changed this country forever when without the consent of the British people he opened the door to millions of East European migrants. And the wanker still didn't get the EU presidency.

There are different types of psychopath, Gordon Brown was an aggressive psychopath, Blair was a charming psychopath. When you meet them they are, well charming, open, nice, like the psycho in the silence of the lambs, you only get to really know who they are by their actions.
Like Blair.

Blair's conversational technique was to get on the 'same side' as anyone criticising him and use this maneuver to make further pressing of the point look churlish or rude.
It would start with "I understand your concerns, but " and finish with statements beginning with the word "look" that would be accompanied with the exasperated expression of a parent trying to explain something to a child.
He was so good at the acting side of being a psychopath that nobody could penetrate this facade and show it to be an act. People were left to work it all out individually. Many did.

you Let's compare that to the Right wings idol Thatcher cost of Thatcherism was mass unemployment, which remained a blight on the country well after she left office. Between 1955 and 1979, the unemployment rate in the U.K. averaged 3.3 per cent. Between 1980 and 1995, it averaged 9.7 per cent. increase in poverty. A helpful chart on the Guardian’s Web site shows the trend. If the poverty line is set at sixty per cent of median income, in 1979 13.4 per cent of households lived under it. By 1990, Mrs. Thatcher’s last year in power, the rate had shot up to 22.2 per cent. the high unemployment rates were a direct consequence of misguided government policies. Thatcher’s initial embrace of monetarism and austerity policies led to higher interest rates and a higher exchange rate for sterling, which was already rising because of the discovery of North Sea oil. An overvalued pound rendered large swaths of British industry uncompetitive with foreign suppliers, and export industries such as steel, shipbuilding, and engineering were decimated. Many towns and cities, particularly in the north, never properly recovered from the Thatcher-era deindustrialization, which is one of the reasons she is still very unpopular in many areas. The Troubles were at their height, and in Margaret Thatcher years. The British government under Margaret Thatcher misled the public and MPs about its dealings with the Pinochet regime in Chile while it tortured and killed thousands of people, declassified British documents show.

Orac, agreeing with an opponent isnt new, its part of cognitive therapy, ibviously finding a way to agree can be hard but is possible. I used it on my ex wife a couple of times at it worked, diffusing arguments, and it allowed me to get my point across, its very useful, especially when dealing with morons like my ex. The recipient feels listened too.

The recipient feels listened too. It also allows for avoidance. It can be used to trap an opponent into either escalating or withdrawing - either way the actual point is often lost.
