He disapproves of jokes about suicide, but he happily condones, even engages in, the sort of activity that makes a vulnerable group suicidal. I doubt Pacifico happily condones suicide. And perhaps, you should give this a little more thought. |

If Pacifico and others around here who claim to be concerned about suicide rates are genuinely concerned, why do they continue to engage in the sort of taunts and insults that increase suicide numbers? I did clarify - you asked if I could confirm that the mod team made a finding that your post was not an attempt to goad someone into committing suicide, and I said no. Sorry if you didnt understand it. Please clarify. Did the mods find that I attempted to goad someone into committing suicide? Yes means the mod team thinks I did try. No means the mod team thinks I didn't. Thank you. Look I will try to explain how things work. We have a team of 3 active moderators - when we get a report we try to come to a consensus decision on the merits of that report (hence why it can take a few days). On the specific issue of your comments about suicide we failed to reach a consensus. 2 of us thought a sanction deserved, 1 did not. As we tend not to act unless united the report was not acted on. Now can this put an end to discussions about moderating decisions in this thread. Thank you. |

You should count yourself lucky that on a forum like this you can get away with trying to encourage people to commit suicide. If you said those things in person it could be a very different outcome.

Your concern for the welfare of forum accounts rather than actual human beings is bizarre. You think action is required if someone jokes about a forum account coming to harm, but you don't care if people make remarks that might cause harm to come to actual human beings. Righto. Just making the point that you have shown more concern about jokes about forum accounts coming to harm than you have remarks that might cause actual human beings to come to harm. Happy to leave it there, though the issue will undoubtedly rear its head again when the taunts aimed at a particularly suicide-vulnerable group start up again. |
