I wish he would
I have said often that i think it was king juan carlos who said the position of sovereign was a job for a YOUNG man.
I look back at how my mother was in her 80’s as the various illnesses hit and i say keeping QE2 in post was nothing less than cruel snd unusual punishment. To hell with the duty bollix which is a mask for avoiding the reason for the last abdication in the UK.
I say Liz should have chucked it in and handed the job to charlie after his first or second heir turned up, and he should have in turn chucked it it and handed William the crown about two or three years ago, or, set the example and buggered off into self imposed abdication last year, stating his son and heir was more than ready which who here wishes to contend he is not ??
It would sure as hell shut down the shit from harry and megan too

I've never understood the media-generated animosity towards Harry — he seems the more human and likeable and less of a royal automaton out of him and Will.
I guess it stems from his taking on the news media, while all Will did was to complain about a long-range paparazzi photo of Kate with her tits out...

It would sure as hell shut down the shit from harry and megan too I disagree with both yourself and his late Catholic Majesty, John. Monarchy in Spain at the beginning of the restoration period was probably stressful and exhausting, but in general, and especially in Britain, a lot can be delegated. The Prince and Princess of Wales, together with such of the siblings of King Chuckles as are currently out of prison can perfectly well do the heavy lifting, with himself doing the ceremonial and political. Remember that his late mother only became the universally admired "grandmother of the nation" after the Diana-kerfuffle had died down, with herself in her early 70s.

Perhaps William did not want to be king so soon, we really do not know.

Then you don't understand the value of family loyalty .
