But I'm not so sure, the chancellor will likely announce all sorts of goodies and tax breaks in the March budget, but people wont feel the effect of budget giveaways and tax breaks for months. And even though Labour have been 20 points ahead for some time, I just listened to polling guru Sir John Curtice who said there are signs that Labours lead is begining to slip, however he also said Labour are still likely to form the next government. The question is with how big a majority.
Labour would have to gain 127 seats just to get a two seat majority, and in the event of a hung parliament smaller parties would become very important and as Sir John Curtice has just pointed out, Reform UK are attracting disenfranchised Tory voters, and red wall voters who voted Tory in 2019. So, will Sunak favour an autumn election rather than a spring election?..
