The politician who doesn’t do this is rare, they evangelise their policies and no matter the personal cost to the plebs.
Meanwhile in real life their first thought is of bisto and a form of rail transport.

Actually we pay a starting rate of 19%. Where do you get those figures from? They are not mentioned in the article. She will be paying the same amount of tax as any other backbench MSP. As for National Insurance she will also be forking out from her salary.

As for National Insurance she will also be forking out from her salary. Sorry, I used to work for HMRC, so I assume people understand taxes the way I do. I will break it down for you. Firstly, you don't pay NI on share dividends, and share dividends are taxed significantly lower than income. I chose the 20%, 45%, 47% (my bad should be 48%) because those income tax rates are the ones that match the share dividend thresholds (8.75%, 33.75%, 39.35%). It is hard to use exact figures looking forward because the Scottish ones are up and down likes a bride's nighty. The article assumes she will earn £300k from book sales, so I'll give you an example of how she is failing to (in her own own words) "pay her fair share" lol. If she wanted to "pay her fair share" she would have her MSP £70k salary, and receive the book income via self-employment, which would look like: Income = £370k Tax = £161k NI = £11k She is not doing this however. She has set up a Personal Service Company to "avoid paying her fair share" lol. This allows her to take the book income as share dividends, instead of income: Income = £70k Share Dividends = £300k Tax = £132 NI = £5k So she will avoid £29k in tax and £6k in NI... that's £35,000! It is perfectly legal, but hypocritical beyond belief for such an outspoken Socialist, who harks on "paying a fair share" and "broadest shoulders". Even more amazing... she will be doing the Scottish government out of money because share dividends go to the UK, unlike income tax which goes to Scotland haha.

Of course, what you choose to hide in this bullshit is that every penny paid as a dividend is actually taxed in the corporation tax paid by the company issuing the dividend.
It was the case that the instant a company paid a dividend it had to also pay HMRC a sum known as Advance Corporation Tax, whose rate mirrored the basic rate of tax. This was then certified by an ACT certificate exempting the basic rate taxpayer from further tax. Rumour has it ACT was abolished but the requirement for the company to be taxed at the MCT rate on sums paid as dividends has not.
As Sturgeon owns the company it is her money that is being used to pay that corporation tax so it is actually 19% she is paying that way PLUS 8.75 of the money she actually receives.
When Gordon Brown entered number 11 he changed the rate of ACT and limited the tax relief so while basic rate taxpayers were unaffected, a dividend to a 40% or higher tax rate payer required rather more than 40% income tax be paid in total.
I well remember some prize twat writing to both Freelance Informer and Computer Contractor proposing a toast to Gordon for lowering the dividend tax rate to higher taxpayers which both magazines then published my letter pointing out this twat’s error and suggesting he read again the details on the budget document, or get a better accountant, or possibly both.
John Samson commented under my published letter that this did indeed show the importance of reading the small print

And yet even more of the SNATS piss taking and wasting public funds...
The SNP is facing backlash for offering a salary of £83,000 to a new boss for their new office in the US.
Critics say the role at the Scottish Government's "embassy" shows their "skewed priorities" as taxes in Scotland rise and public services in the UK struggle with low budgets. The SNP has nine overseas offices in countries including China.

Do you not agree with me that the "Socialist thing to do" would be to take the income via self-employment? As for Corporation Tax. She will use every trick in the book to slow the flow of income until she is no longer a MSP. Then she pay herself, and probably hubby, a minimum wage salary and takes the rest as dividends... then expense the shit out of everything to get the corporation tax right down. As for IT contractors, they weren't so smug when Rishi (rightly) punished them during Covid haha.

As for IT contractors, they weren't so smug when Rishi (rightly) punished them during Covid haha. As i’m sure you know, fishy Rishi the greasy dago with the inheritance tax evading wife decided ANY limited company of ANY size whose managing directors took any sort of dividend was barred from any of the furlough reliefs, and as again i’m sure you know, no managing directors were entitled to any help because it was impossible to not work for the company during the pandemic. Why the fuck do you think no party members wanted him to be PM

Let's face it, when the Tories lose the election they will leave the country anyway... who in their right mind would pay tax twice on the same income? Fuck MDs. If you want to live outside of the social contract then you better have a nest egg and not expect the tax payer to pick up the tab. If they really were on the bread then they should have gotten a job. There was plenty of work in the supermarkets, warehousing and logistics.

If you are as you claim ex HMRC then you know damn well what i’m referring to it’s in your bloody staff bulletin. I have family in the trade too. There is a treaty between the UK and India which allows Indians, and only Indians, who enjoy non dom status, to choose to declare their inheritance to the Indian tax authorities, and pay inheritance tax to india, or declare it to the UK and pay inheritance tax here. I’m fully aware of the many dual tax liability offset / waiver schemes. No one who has worked in France Belgium or Italy as i have in the past can not have. Yes i used such to choose to pay the UK taxman and tell the french to fuck off. No truly patriotic brit could choose to act otherwise …. But unlike those arrangements, the treaty allowing Indians to do this SHOULD have been voided the moment India ceased to apply Inheritance Tax. And the last person who chose to NOT void it despite it being his job to was … fishy rishi. That wouldn’t be because if he had he wife would have been liable to pay £230million instead of £0, of course not.
