The UK have a knack for putting failed people in to high profile jobs, the bank of England Boss Andrew Bailey was kicked out as CEO of FCA, because he failed, Starmer failed as DPP, Cameron failed PM, all now in high profile jobs, so gone are the days you were rewarded for good work and competence, you seem to get better rewarded if you are a failure. Bailey studied History when he went to Cambridge. Quite what that has to do with central banking I really do not know. Hardly the best man for the job eh? I was wondering about this and thinking what successful politician has there been who was a lawyer. I can't think of any offhand, but asking what successful politician there has been and then reverse engineering that to what they studied, I think the answer is Chemistry. Lady Thatcher and President Xi both hold this title. I guess it stands to reason, because a chemist is the one who mixes stuff together in order to get the right reaction. That's the kind of brain you need to run a country. A sort of chemical harmony. Like the chick says, we have the right chemistry between us. Get a lawyer to run it and you get tied up in legal agro in everything your try and do. Actually, history and in particular the way politicians in the past conned the people into thinking a central bank was a government institution when it was nothing of the sort is an exceptionally good grounding for CENTRAL banking. Go research the role of Rothschild in funding the Duke of Wellington's armies. and the way the government raised the funds to replace the fleet after the audacious raid on the medway bu the dutch in 1667
Thatcher is perhaps the worst possible example of a scientist in government. The moment she got into power the first thing she did was shut down Medical Research Council and Science Research Council funding into the white heat of technology that had put us at the forefront of all manner of medical and engineering innovation. I know, because i was bloody well there You might like to take a look at this parliamentary briefing by the way researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/CBP-7483/CBP-7483.pdf

That's a direct quote from his twitter/X hardly an authoritative objective statement of fact It does appear to be an authoritative informed statement of fact. Hope you have asked Father Christmas for a dictionary ? It's clear that you have no idea of the meaning of words It's from his own X/twitter and reads as being asked for a job reference by a mate who daren't ask anyone likely to be objective

I admit Thatcher was far from perfect, but you did at least get the impression she was running the country rather than she was a poster girl for the civil service, which traditionally runs the country. I think it is pretty clear that the most powerful politician in the world right now is President Xi, leader of the world's second largest economy. You could argue that goes to Biden, but he's not really in charge. They do acting in American politics like we do now. I remember mid 80s we were told there is such a thing in Blighty as a synchrotron, but whilst we were being informed of this marvel of scientific ingenuity, we were simultaneously being told it was being shut down. Well that was a great introduction to the kids who were all hoping to do a career in physics. Hey guys, just stopped in to tell you that you future employer is being shut down. Now if you look up who studies what, one of the biggest science degree courses is psychology. I wonder what thing is creating such a high demand in this voodoo science. I think it comes close to sociology. It's a great shame because as we copped out in physics, there existed a new application which became increasingly apparent some 15 years later, and that is semiconductor physics. There are tricks used to make better semiconductors and microchip fabrication which are worth billions. For example there was a trick that Morris Chang came up with for TSMC which made it the largest fab in the world and took over Intel. Our country should never have given up the race. We were in a world leading position in many things circa 1950s.

My guess is that you are just another 'Righty' poster who like most 'Righties' carry denigration and deviousness in their DNA.
