When you say misused, can you explain more precisely what your concern is?

When you say misused, can you explain more precisely what your concern is? Concern? Well there’s obviously the opportunity for it to be accessed for purposes other than intended,it’s already not unknown for the PNC to be accessed for purposes outside of law enforcement, civilian employees of the police do for one and individuals have used it to track ex partners or harass others. The others are of course the security services or any any future administration with no care for civil rights.

.. occasions when civilian police workers had been caught out using the PNC for reasons other than specified.. It's not just civilian workers. D.C Eldest Son has reported cases of a number of uniformed colleagues over the years who've been disciplined (or more) for doing the same. Such a stupid thing to do. Every single keystroke (he reports) on a police computer is logged. You WILL be caught.

I would be more concerned about it being used to enforce 15 minute cities per ULEZ. Because that's where this is all actually heading. At the moment ULEZ targets only older vehicles but soon enough it will net all vehicles. Then it will become pay per mile, then you will be taxed for leaving your 15 minute zone even on foot.
It is coming.
And, if that wasn't bad enough, people are already receiving fines for vehicles that aren't theirs (when the camera has read the number plate incorrectly) and effectively then have to prove their innocence.
Imagine that happening with facial recognition when someone else, who looks a bit like you, does something forbidden and you get the blame.

Casinos have been using facial recognition technology for years, after a group of NASA students used were using their individual skills as a 'group' to dupe casinos out of thousands, they were traveling the world, that's basically the reason FR technology was invented.

When you say misused, can you explain more precisely what your concern is? I think the worrying thing is if this data falls in the wrong hands. All these data banks leak like a sieve and we read every other day where our personal data has been compromised.

Never mind the "Wrong hands" - I don't want my data anywhere near the allegedly "Right hands".
I do not consent to constant surveillance. Full stop.

One company I worked for used fingerprints to identify you when you clocked in or out . The very next one used facial recognition.

I have no problem with the idea of facial recognition - but then I have white skin.
The technology has a concerningly high misread rate on people of colour, however.
