'End of the EUSSR': Bloc in tatters as nations break with 'deeply damaging' Schengen rules.
Ursula von der Leyen at a summit for Prince Charles this month
The European Union is facing a major crisis as nearly a dozen nations inside the bloc have rebelled against Brussels' policies on border checks, sparking fears the union could come crumbling down.
Among those issues that blunt warning is ex-MEP Ben Habib, who said new checks on borders for people entering European Union nations could signal an end of the bloc's freedom of movement - and could "also spell the end of the EUSSR".

I've said for years that the Schengen agreement is the reason why the EU is being over-run by illegal immigrants. It effectively means that their borders are being policed by countries like Greece and Italy. But these countries are less concerned about illegals because they know that the illegals are not going to stay very long because they want to claim asylum in more welcoming countries. So the EU is basically wide open to invasion.
It looks like, finally, some countries in the EU are reinstating border checks. This is good news for everyone - except for the daft ideal of the EU to set up a United States of Europe.

The four freedoms has become the three freedoms. Never mind, goods capital and services remain, for the time being.

They are far from dead, just a matter of stopping them weaponizing the whole of Europe, which they are determined they will. That would be very bad for your health.

The four freedoms has become the three freedoms. Never mind, goods capital and services remain, for the time being. Members have always had the sovereign right to close their borders, as they did during Covid. The UK is also doing its best to close its borders via conditional entry, except that you have more need of some migrants than other countries.
