...But what if one works through "choice", rather than out of "necessity"? Because that's me, too... It's me as well, but I'm still working class. Also, if ones leisure pursuits and interests are more likely to involve theatre, the arts, niche cinema, and community than, say, watching football and going down the pub, etc? Or reading broadsheets rather than tabloids? (Etc - the list can be as long as you care to make it..)... What of it? I read the Torygraph and listen to classical music, you'd probably say that I was quite well spoken, but it doesn't mean that I'm not working class.

Fair enough - it's ultimately about self defining.
I, also, would say I'm "working class" - but half of the people who know me would disagree.

I've read the BBC Charter, and I'm not sure that Class Definition was ever a part of the Mission Statement.

Immigration will always be an issue in Ireland not least because the Irish don't even like each other.
