Illegal migrant boat sinks...

Labours Anneliese [Barking mad] Dodds said of this latest 'tragedy':

..."It is obviously absolutely awful, heartbreaking news. One can barely imagine what it must have been like in the middle of the night with freezing cold water and the terror and fear for people on that vessel".

It sounds to me as if Anneliese Dodds is under the impression that illegals are forced at gunpoint onto cross channel dinghies. It's as if she is unaware that they 'choose' to pay smugglers and 'choose' to climb into cross channel dinghies to get them from the 'safe EU' to an English beach. She seems unaware that it's their choice.

Liddle had a piece in the Mail today asking 'What if the boats were going the other way?. Apparently the question arose on a morning talk show but went unanswered. Liddle came up with his own account.

The idea being that increasingly right-wing governments will force the EU to finally close its Mediterranean borders to would-be migrants, who would then be ferried directly from North Africa to Ireland or Britain. The UK would then load them onto boats to cross the Channel.

But they wouldn't get very far, the French Navy turning out in force to blockade the route and force the boats back to shore.

Sounds about right to me.

It's a question I have asked on this very forum. If hundreds of thousands of refugees/asylum seekers/illegals call them what you will, were landing on French beaches from England, what would the EU/French reaction be? Would they be treated as poor asylum seekers and accommodated in hotels? Or would the EU/French authorities threaten all sorts of sanctions against the UK as French trawlers blocked ports and Paris is brought to a standstill by French farmers.

In short, if migrants were going the other way it would be stopped immediately.

There's definitely some clear blue water between the nations. The difference in approach perhaps exemplified between one electorate tending toward electing Le Pen to help deal with their problems, and one about to put their faith in Starmer.

Why does a politician who is pro-EU have to be sympathetic to illegal aliens? Those on the continent aren't, died-in-the-wool lefties excepted of course.

Because illegals who enter the UK do so from the EU, and as we have seen on many occasions our pro EU political leaders are loathe to upset the EU.
