Less than a week after its launch the 2023 Guardian and Observer Christmas appeal for refugees and asylum seekers has received £350,000 in donations.
The appeal is for the benefit of three charities - Refugee Councils of Britain, Refugees at Home, and Naccom – that support homeless and destitute asylum seekers and refugees.
Guardian editor-in chief Katherine Viner said: “More than ever, our 2023 appeal seeks to highlight the values of kindness, respect, tolerance and compassion, all of which underpin the missions of our partner charities, alongside their commitment to social justice and human rights.”
Fair warms the old cockles don't it.
So while we can take for granted that dappy, Wally, Zany and the like-minded will making over large amounts of dosh in the run-up the Christmas, it only remains to ask who if anyone here will not be donating generously?
Come on hands up, let's see who you are!

Last night, our cinema had a screening of that beloved Xmas classic Die Hard 2, and shook the bucket for the local food bank.
Turns out - every year - that people are very generous, unlike certain cynics on here.

Jolly good show, that's showing them.
Is it (the food bank) much frequented by foreigners?

However, if the left wing so called 'charities' mentioned in the OP (Who in my opinion should be stripped of any charitable status) approached me for a donation they would get nothing more than an earful.

Should we take that as another hand-up then for not donating to the Guardian's Christmas Appeal?

..if the left wing so called 'charities' mentioned in the OP (Who in my opinion should be stripped of any charitable status) approached me for a donation they would get nothing more than an earful. I'm sure they would. And they remain charities, despite your personal tastes, and your earful would be nothing they haven't heard before.

I half watched it which seemed an appropriate amount of effort to spend. Well done on any donations though.

Watching it for the first time in 20+ years, I learned 3 things..
Every single supporting cast member of a Bruce Willis movie is an almost infinitely better actor than Mr Willis.
During a riot/stampede in Washington's busiest airport, during Xmas week, a strict No Children/Disabled/Elderly policy is enforced.
One of the largest budgets of its day still doesn't buy believable fake snow.
Cheesy nonsense, but very enjoyable.

It does what it says on the tin. Like Mr Schwarzenegger, Mr Willis does one 'character'. You have to understand the form. An archetype is depicted, not a human. Good acting would spoil the effect
Many people working in Hollywood presently should be forced to watch hours of this eighties junk cinema and try to explain why their best efforts to illicit any flicker of enjoyment in viewers seems to fall so far behind the line drawn.

Good on yer Monte.
Are you now going to be topping that by inviting a few to the caravan for Xmas din-dins? Top Tip: just be sure to go halal if you do.

All vegetarian dishes are halal so long as they don't contain alcohol. I only cook meat at work.

We're talking Muzzies here not Hindoos. They'll be wanting sheeps-eyes with all the trimmings not nut cutlets. You need to shape up!
