I cant remember the numbers but it was close. This makes me wonder if the king makers in the Tory party see the future as more left, there is no doubt that the more common sense more right wing thinking is now a minority. Even a small change would see the Brexit vote reversed, and in the medium to long term that is their goal. As time goes on, the electorate will hardly notice how left things have become and will accept left views, wokery, immigration, globalisation, and the creeping erosion of democacy.
There is talk that the government will introduce laws that will allow the sitting government to look at bank accounts if they want to. Local government like Khan , and your council do things against the will of the people, cars etc.
The Tories are not silly, they know where the future lies. Notice the futility of GB news and Talk tv, the ranting, the exposing of serious crime, corruption and incompetence, and where does it go??? Nowhere, the Tories take no notice.
And heres the kicker, Britain agrees with the Tories, on all of the above. The young will see no harm in it, they are easily led by their immaturity, naievity, and rebellious nature. In the 1960s they were rioting every week about something. As a side issue, we should put the voting age up to 21.
The left, the immaturity, the incompetence, just look at bust councils, the Linekers, the anti englishness.....etc have won.
The Brexit vote was about left v right. If Labour get in were back in the Eu, if the Tories get in, the same. It will be by stealth, as per the Putin way, the country will wake up one day and we will be back in europe, and no one will care. The change to the left is permanent.

It was close 52-48 but 1.3 million people majority is not that small a number, isit? The government can already see our bank accounts vis HMRC, I believe. All banks have access to all other banks for balance and verification purposes. The Tories take no notice of anyone. They are a tired, spent force. Britain agrees with the Tories? They have about 1/4 of the vote in current polls. What's the 60's got to do with the price of electricity? The Brexit vote was really not left and right. People tried to divide it up in several ways, left/right, young/old, white/non white male/female and none of them worked. The real issue was that 73% of MPs in Parliament were remain in 2016. And, nothing is permanent. As they say, change is here to stay.

The Brexit vote wasn’t about left v right, otherwise you wouldn’t have seen the red wall seats fall or many places that were labour strongholds voting leave.

It was about self determination vs the erosion of democratic choice.
Even if you like the idea of a federal Europe, the idea of it being run by people who the public cannot directly hold to account is insane.

Interesting poll from yougov in todays paper - seems that the young are in favour of rejoining the EU but it is fading in importance to them. As time goes by the EU becomes ever more irrelevant.

Let's face it: Whether we're members of the EU or not makes very little difference to the real lives of most people.

Well it does appear now like the EUCHR and the UN may be the next target for self determination.

Explain why the majority would vote for full membership with no rebate, participation in Schengen and membership of the Euro?
That's the obstacle remoaners now face.
There are no economic benefits from doing so.
That organisation is a bureaucratic, political straight jacket which takes sovereignty away from the ballot box and hands it to the Commission.
We've got experience of 26 years of EU membership, and before that, 20 years of EEC membership.
The EEC was bad enough, but the Maastricht Treaty and follow on treaties made it even worse.

I'm sorry for using the upsetting term remoaners.
"Fascists" would be a better word for them bad losers.
Fasces are a bundle of sticks lashed together for strength. Fascists believe in strength, rather than democracy.
The EU is not a democracy, because the policies of the EU are set by Commission, not public votes.
It needs root and branch reform.
We have an FTA with it, there is no need to rejoin.
If they get reform, good for them. If they don't, well, don't be surprised if more leave.

Problem is we had 17m in private business before COV-ID due to lockdowns dropped to about 11m up to 12m yet that means more now work for the government. I took alternative supplements that beat the virus in a couple of hours, the NHS is in hock to big pharma. Before we recovered from COV-ID Biden's cronies decided to start mischief which led to Russia invading Crimea and sanctions causing inflation and currency war with the BRICs causing interest rates to rise. This could herald a new frightening dawn or a mild bump depends on the ruing political factions in the USA and other forces around the world, we are not big enough to determine the course of world events and neither is the EU. The USA is in a bad place politically the fight between Trump vs Biden with no certainty of better governance going forward giving the BRICs countries space to do their thing.
