The natural language model they use to interpret user input is based on something called transformers, which as I recall was invented circa 2019. It works on the base concept of attention, which is very important in psychology. Transformers are very good at identifying contextual meaning where the context may be some distance away in the input stream.

It’s amazing that the complexity of this rapidly evolving artificial neural network is able to use these ‘transformers’ to navigate the complexities that govern context … and provide programming solutions often superior in efficiency to that which an educated human programmer can produce … in a much shorter time. … (for example …this early version of Chat GPT can learn in 1.5 years what it took a human 25 years to learn as it navigated thru school and university!) ……This will surely mean that something like the new generations of Chat GPT currently being made will develop into a fluid evolving system that is already almost out of control … unless someone pulls the plug. It’s swallowing up so much GPU energy from the Electricity Grid … the presenter quotes 30% in tech States already … could there be a time the greed of AI sucking on the Grid to survive … will be prioritised over energy needs of humans trying to survive winters around the World?? As this presenter astutely points out …. Humans are super energy efficient in processing neurone power thinking … much better than these machines in reaching an end solution to a problem. Students will have to learn the old fashioned way … and write their own essays in future … if they want to be truly GREEN. My guess is the Internet Controllers will make AI less universally accessible to stop the demands on the Network crashing these programmes and using up precious energy THAT NEEDS TO BE SAVED for human survival. - PROVIDED HUMANS ARE STILL IN AI’s TEMPLATE FOR SURVIVAL?? It's the way one thinks about it. You could think about it like that. I know the British press do, but lets kind of drill down and see why it is consuming so much energy. You see those networks of nodes. The idea is you have a load of signals coming in and you have to multiply the inputs by the current weights and give outputs. In the simplest network it is in two phases, the training part and the computation part. In the training part you are computing the weights which get shifted slightly each time you give it a another line of the data to train on. If you convert that to maths, it looks like a series of matrix multiplies. To compute on a large scale you would want many processors doing a bit of the job each, but your hardware multipliers are a thing you get in a CPU, but you use a GPU like chip which is designed to parallel up these operations. Even so the RAM you use to keep track of the weights is in a DRAM chip which is fabricated in a different way to your standard CPU, although it is possible to fit it on the same die you locate it in a separate block and you have to have some high speed bus to shunt the data from the multipliers to the storage. This makes for a very busy bus and this is your bottle neck. Like trying to cook a meal with the fridge 50 feet away from your cooker. Lastly, did you really think the Chinese had not thought about this problem!

I think Donald Trump is very stupid to declare ‘economic war’ on China … instead of working narratives of international cooperation … this could be the reason he and America will end up a washed-up ex-Colonial Empire torn apart by Israel and hostile immigrant invaders. This is why we need to get in with China and develop this technology with them. Our engineers need to get to the same standard of proficiency as the Chinese engineers are. Right now China is leaving the door open for us. If we were to stop attacking them and start helping them then we would replace the US as technology partners and this would do wonders for our nation and its economy.
China works in a fundamentally different way to the US. The US is very dishonest in business and has a kind of Machiavellian style to it where you know that they will burn you. China declares itself a communist country. I think the translation from English to Chinese of the words socialism and communism is most weird, as it is not at all how we tend to picture it. Literally (from Latin) the com in communist means together. It is also used in the word community, but also commerce too. The together in the word commerce comes from the physical marketplace in the town centre where traders and punters are all together. Anyway, back to how China thinks, it practices this with other countries, so it likes together-like projects, hence it would be happy to bring Britain in if Britain cooperated and worked with China for the common goal of development rather than at each other's throats.It's actuially a very simple idea and one need not get scared into thinking they are mad Marxists. That changed about mid 70s after Mao died.

Anyhow you have certainly picked a very orthodox Western style view on AI. Now lets contrast and compare to a video from the East. I can't quite place the chap's accent, but it does not sound like a western one, so this video is the opposite, where this video draws on the culture of the East Asian region. I would hazard a guess the music as well was created over that way because it is quite familiar to many Chinese videos I watch.
There is no fear in the video at all. There is a lot of AI in the video, but this AI is not theoretical, rather AI used in everyday life. Another difference is these Eastern productions often give you some useful stats to get a sense of proportion. Western productions seems to leave out measure of proportion or describe it as "a lot of people". In Western minds it is often a case of something either either is or it isn't. Anyway, a general point in looking at the two views is, if our nation learn to fear these machines then you know we will be taken over. In 50 years our country would look like the contrast between industrial Britain and primitive tribal African culture without running water or electricity. The Luddites are marching.
I don't know about you, but there appears to be new art form watching some of those machines work.

China has its own set of global organisations, like the really powerful one is the SCO. If you want to know why it is called the SCO, it is because the Chinese government literally started in a secret back room between no more than a table's worth of people who wanted to run China in a different way, and it was those meetings in Shanghai which were the very beginning of the revolution with Mao and all that followed, so Shanghai is their spiritual home. The SCO is the organisation that started to gain agreements with what started as a few minor countries, but this has grown fast as China built the BRI from 2013 onwards. What many don't realise is David Cameron's previous job was connected to the BRI. Now you can see a problem here. I've been reading what China's main state newspapers say about Cameron and they give it the thumbs up in a big way, calling it a very positive move to help build relations. China wants to hook up with the UK as good friendly business partners, no malice. On our side we are sending signals we also like the idea but both we know and China understands we risk attack by the US, so it is not an easy thing. The US has all its paid off trolls like Duncan Smith and Tugendhat or even GB News/Talk TV/Times etc. Anyway, this other empire is clearly going to replace the US' empire. China believes it is unstoppable now. It has been for some time, and before that they kept it quiet. Now the big ones who make the difference is Russia is very close to China and will develop its economy now, and the Saudis have switched too. You also have growing relations in the East Asian region, like I just heard the South Korean firm Samsung are going to use the Huawei mobile operating system on their phones. Google and their Android spy system may start to fade at some point. They call this operating system Harmony to western consumers, but in China it is called the HongMeng. Interesting stuff … but I don’t trust Cameron and Sunak … Ukraine pro-Nazi/NATO war-mongers who are both ‘tools’ of the WEF … and have now tilted the Cabinet back to a majority in key positions edging to rejoining the EU … STABBING UK CITIZENS in the back … they will NEVER address the illegal immigration flood now. We want to cut loose from this ‘cancer’ … chop it out of our System. The thing is in the real world right now these are the ones who are running the UK, regardless of their past. I mean they would never have got in to that position had they not succoured up to the NATO programme. I think one way to understand it is the Chinese are expert diplomats. I often join in with chats they have on the internet and they would explain it as the Chinese have had thousands of years of diplomatic experience.
President Xi is a master diplomat. He has been all round the world meeting leaders and he carries an air of calm tranquillity in all he does. He sees himself as a small man in a huge project that was built before he arrived, he adds in his small bit then passes it on to future leaders. As I found out when working with the Chinese that nearly everything that has been said about them in the news is wrong.
Now regarding Cameron, this is rather weird, but how it happened was exactly due to him putting his foot into it, which as you can imagine, he is quite prone to doing. He invited the Dalai Lama as I suppose he thought, great stuff, lets meet some foreign leader. This infuriated the Chinese and Cameron got a lot of attack for it. He was certainly not flavour of the month in the Chinese state press. He had indeed crossed a red line there without having any idea he had done so. I think the Chinese probably thought more along the lines of clumsy fool, but anyway he got the message and then very wisely apologised. As it happened he was very keen to apologise as he must have seen it as a genuine error on his part. To make up for it he invited President Xi to meet the queen and they rolled out the red carpet for him. It turned out that President Xi had privately always wanted to meet our queen, and he finally achieved his ambition and was extremely grateful to Cameron for setting it up. The Dalai Lama incident was quickly forgotten about. Indeed so good were Sino British relations at this point that Britain landed multibillion pound contracts for China, including setting up some university over there and much more.
This was all going very well until the Americans put a stop to it, but President Xi has not forgotten about both Cameron and Osbourne who both worked very had to create good relations between the nations, so the fact he is Foreign Secretary is all you need to know about where we are indeed going. We're essentially telling the US to stick it. US-China relations are getting worse, so the large investments China made in the US could find their way into Britain if we are very careful not to make any further mistakes, and this is why Cleverly has been thrown out of the job. Global Times described him as "clumsy" but they only had good things to say about Cameron. They are very happy to see him back. The US has not quite figured the significance of this move.
Anyway, it s a good story to illustrate the law of unintended consequences or where a mistake is the catalyst for change. Hopefully in the future we won't have to bomb anyone in order to get a US trade deal because we won't need a US trade deal.
