BBC faces £1.7billion bill for handing top stars and executives gold-plated pensions as broadcaster is plunged into crisis. The corporation has been plunged into deep financial trouble and has admitted that its staggering pensions bill is 'not justifiable' in documents seen by the Telegraph. It's understood that executives have warned that the soaring costs are negatively impacting investment in programming. The Beeb is now even fighting a legal battle as it attempts to reduce the pension payouts and plug the black hole. Some £1.7billion has already been put aside to fill the gap - more than the cost of BBC One and Two content last year, and around £70 each for licence fee payers. BBC staff who joined the company before 2010 were offered retirement packages which increase in line with inflation. They also allow employees to retire at 60, six years earlier than the state pension age. The cost of funding gold-plated BBC pensions is now thought to be equivalent to almost half the salaries of those employees. This comes as the BBC faces a government review over the future of the licence fee amid warnings the model was not sustainable. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12709283/BBC-faces-1-7billion-bill-handing-stars-executives-gold-plated-pensions-broadcaster-plunged-crisis.htmlAnd don't forget posters, left wing millionaire Gary Lineker's gold plated BBC pension is paid for by us mugs who are forced to buy a BBC TV licence in order to watch ITV.

These gold plated pensions need revising . Everywhere there is public money there are people agreeing someone can have too much of it . The BBC , councils ,government ,civil service all have people on pensions that are mind boggling for the service they have provided

As if by magic, my BBC TV licence reminder dropped through the letterbox this very morning. Yes indeed, Tim Davie wants another £159 to help him keep loud mouth left wing Lineker in the millionaire lifestyle he's become accustomed to since being anointed as a BBC 'star'.
Well usual SOP's at Rackham Towers will be followed - The BBC TV licence reminder will remain on my desk until the red reminder arrives which is usually in one months time. I will send a cheque that will inevitably get caught up in Christmas post. In January I will recieve a threatening letter from the BBC because they will claim I haven't paid for a BBC TV Licence. I will phone my bank who will tell me the cheque has been cashed. I will then write to BBC TV Licensing and tell them I do not appreciate receiving threatening unsolicited mail any further threats will be forwarded to my solicitor.
Yes I know I'm being intentionally awkward, but I don't care. I wish everyone would do the same. I'm making it difficult for the BBC because I object to being forced to pay for a BBC TV Licence in order to watch ITV.

Tell Mrs R to buy one if she wants to watch live TV!

Tell Mrs R to buy one if she wants to watch live TV! Well, I would refuse to buy one if we didn't watch live TV. Tbh I watch very little TV but Mrs R quite likes it although she doesn't watch BBC. This is what pisses me off, and no doubt many other people. We are forced to buy a BBC TV licence to watch ITV.

I just wondered if you object to paying to fund schools you don't use.
