Sir Keir Starmer battled to maintain Labour discipline with members of his frontbench in open revolt about his stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict...
Shadow ministers are among senior Labour figures demanding a change in his stance, with frontbencher Alex Cunningham calling for an “immediate ceasefire” less than an hour before Sir Keir delivered his speech.
Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar also criticised Sir Keir, claiming he had made “hurtful” comments about the conflict and there was “repair work to do” to mend bridges with Muslim communities...
Starmer needs to get a grip of this else Labour are going to come across as a bunch of Islamo-Leftists and that won't be popular.

Face it, there are so many different parties at play here that no significant grouping in the UK is free from smear campaigns, whatever their stance on the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, or the terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas and Israel’s defence/retaliation.
Personally, I’m not discounting the interests of China and Russia in whipping up groups enough to parade through the streets of London and elsewhere and attacking each other. China and Russia just love arguing and riots in the West…

China and Russia just love arguing and riots in the West… ..and as ive told you before many a time , there is enough hatred and divisions in the west , as there always has been , without the need for china or russia to get involved .
The west isnt , and never has been some homogenous blob united in thought and deed. At the minute , we appear to be merely a loose grouping of countires under the "pax americana" , a position that came about post world war two.
China and russia , despite the incessant reds under the beds bogeyman that gets trotted out time and again when the current status quo seems under threat , dont need to lift a finger.
Western politicians are quite capable of tearing "the west " apart under their own idiocy.

I don't suppose Hamas considered that the unintended consequences of their pogrom would be to affect politics, probably around the world, but certainly in the UK. Starmer could have probably got along fine. But as they say in politics, "events happen". This event has opened up the split between the anti-Semite Corbynites and the less anti-Semite Blairites/Starmerites. There is now a war in the Labour party which can do them no good whatsoever with an election coming up next year. Starmer is in a cleft stick. If he puts his foot down the Islam/left part of his party will revolt. If he continues standing for Israel, which he believes is the right thing to do, he has the best chance. If he changes his stance he will go down as another flip-flop and the Tories will see an open goal and make it look as if he supports Hamas, which, of course, he does not. I honestly think Hamas have scuppered Starmer's aspirations of being PM.

There was once a man who fought the government for immigrants to receive benefits and won, his name is Keir Starmer. So, either way you are fecked, by the Conservatives or Labour.

Maybe the poppy is in the wash. Maybe the poppy turned into a pair of spectacles? Is it one of those spot the difference things? Maybe someone should ask him.

I'm just watching the news and the headlines about rebelling Muslim Labour MPs and "Unhappy" Muslim Labour constituents. It's going to be interesting watching Labour's imminent collapse at their own hands: Offend the Isalmists or offend everyone else? What to do, what to do...

The flag caption does apply to the Israeli settlers in the West Bank though not the city dwellers.
Galloway has come out now and said there were no rapes and only one baby killed and not mutilated.
He also claims the party that was attacked was largely off duty IDF staff.
Makes sense to me though it does not excuse taking hostages.
