From the provided link....." Enjoy charging when you book an electric vehicle and charge at one of the 300,000 approved Shell Recharge stations found across Europe." I think you misunderstand what you read. These are 300,000 chargers available for Hertz car rental users. It does not mean Hertz don't also have chargers. Indeed as you can see from the photo from their website, they clearly do. Those are not rapid chargers - if you are reliant on them it takes the vehicle out of circulation for a whole day.

Warehouse storing lithium batteries goes up in flames in France amid growing fears over their dangers...... The fire in France occurred at a storehouse in the town in Viviez in Aveyron, and residents were told to stay indoors by authorities. Locals were ordered to keep their doors and window closed as the thick smoke engulfed the town. No injuries or deaths were reported. So like the guy in the vid - if he returns the car first thing in the morning its going to be out of action for a whole day and whole night? Yes - sounds like a very successful commercial plan. And people wonder why Hertz are getting rid of EV's..

President Biden’s administration plans to pull back on strict new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules that would have forced US automakers to turn EVs into their main business by 2032. That’s according to The New York Times, which wrote yesterday that industry players had moved the administration to give them more time to bring down EV costs, and for a nationwide charging infrastructure to be more fully built out.....

It follows the withdrawal of the grant schemes. But yes I agree without those the government ambitions are to strong for the industry. Personally I would like to see new rules allowing Hybrids with a battery range of 50 miles. This would IMO fulfill the concerns of both those concerned about climate change and those concerned about long journeys. It would mean 95% of journeys would be on electric alone, provided they were charged regularly.
That part would be down to governments with a mix of taxes and infrastructure.

What climate change FFS. Or do you mean the one predicted by the doom goblin? I wonder where she was when those batteries went up in smoke in France?

It's a sad story that seems to reflect the degradation of our institutions, which now seem to be universally run by people who are sub-normal cognitively
They all chose the easy / sexy job - forcing the automakers to bend to their iron will

Yes well. I wasn't referring to you. I meant people who cared about other people and what they believe or want.
