..he is not a clueless lefty, he is out there working for a living. Most of the people I know are what you'd class "clueless lefties". All of them (Unless retired) work for a living. Personally, I haven't taken a full day off in a month. (Not that I see it as "work" - as the adege goes: "do something you love and you'll never have to work a day in your life".) (I also provide jobs for others through our current project. Right now, a rather large number, and it'll grow further by 2025/6..)

t might be tempting to fully charge the battery in your electric car. After all, you like to leave your house with the batteries on your smartphone and fitness tracker charged to 100 percent, right? However, while the occasional full charge isn’t a problem, you should avoid charging an electric car to 100 percent unless absolutely necessary. Failure to do so will reduce the battery’s longevity and put a dent in the car’s projected electric range. Avoiding a full charge will also save you time at a public charger.

I wonder if this is an old article. My Kia wont let me charge it more than 80% of the batteries actual capacity and on the full electric EV6 it reserves the last 15% for emergencies such as running out of fuel. Only certain people (Such as the AA) can put a code in to release that last 15% to get you home. While reading your bit Jonsky, I stumbled upon the article below which is a really balanced view of using an EV and genuinely reflects my sons experience. He started with a Nissan leaf and had real range anxiety because of its limited range, then switched to an MG EV and never worries at all. www.msn.com/en-gb/money/other/i-ran-a-kia-ev6-electric-car-for-a-week-and-found-it-can-be-rewarding-and-cheap-but-it-requires-thought/ar-AA18Ig9m?ocid=winp2fptaskbarhover&cvid=e791fdf22dc24dce80743b0b63074e75&ei=46

Nope. More like never venturing outside of its range . Still, it’s not going trouble you is it ? You swerved the EV and bought a hybrid do you don’t need to ‘ research ‘ do you ? Reported. Grow a pair ffs.

The published range is that given by 80% For the ignorant and unwilling to educate themselves on here. No battery allows you to charge it to full. When your mobile says 100% its actually 80%, same with your power tools.

Have you got a link to prove that? What about a lead acid battery? Mobile batteries can be charged to 80% as part of the battery protect software in some mobiles, but when they are fully charged, they are. This looks like another zanygame maths aberration.

What happens when an electric car runs out of battery charge?

I’m not surprised. Heater, lights , windscreen wipers . It’s a wonder they get out of the garage ( that they would destroy if they set alight ).

I still have a Betamax video player. Nothing wrong with Betamax. I found my mid eighties, ex ITN News (they sold them off for buttons when they were superceded) Sony GSC-1 betacam up in the attic, last year. Plugged it in, and it still works (battery won't hold much of a charge, of course, but the recording quality was as "good" as it ever was). Betamax WAS the superior video system, and the reasons it lost out to VHS have been documented and argued over at great length - and this forum can well do without rerunning all of that nonsense. When it comes to analogue technology, I'm more interested in Scotch and their "Lifetime Guarantee" videocassettes. A friend has been cataloguing the vast collection of tapes left by the late Bob Monkhouse, and can attest that many of these brand have degraded to a state where they're now unplayable.. Sony did the U-matic professional recorders as well. Did you ever use them in your industry? I understand they were highly rated.
