When referring to Hamas the BBC refuse to use the word 'terrorist'. BBC guidelines say ...
Our reporting of possible acts of terror should be timely and responsible, bearing in mind our requirement for due accuracy and impartiality. Terrorism is a difficult and emotive subject with significant political overtones and care is required in the use of language that carries value judgements. We should not use the term ‘terrorist’ without attribution.
The word ‘terrorist’ itself can be a barrier rather than an aid to understanding. We should convey to our audience the full consequences of the act by describing what happened. We should use words which specifically describe the perpetrator such as ‘bomber’, ‘attacker’, ‘gunman’, ‘kidnapper’, ‘insurgent’ and ‘militant’. We should not adopt other people’s language as our own; our responsibility is to remain objective and report in ways that enable our audiences to make their own assessments about who is doing what to whom.”However, previous BBC headlines have included... Oxford woman admits distributing terrorist publications. Man admits sharing far right terrorist documents. York gets emergency grab bags in case of terrorist attack. Prison officer faces jail for possessing terrorist handbook. The big cases: Homegrown terrorist. Isle of Wight boy 15 accused of planning terrorist attacks. It would seem the BBC are in fact quite fond of using the word 'terrorist', unless they are referring to a legally proscribed terrorist organisation. order-order.com/2023/10/11/bbcs-excuse-for-not-referring-to-hamas-as-terrorists-is-inconsistent/

Hamas are a proscribed terrorist organisation. They are terrorists by definition. If the BBC wish to refer to them as something else, that is because they refuse to recognise that definition. They are making a political choice by doing so which flies in the face of accuracy.

The BBC are ignoring the law and the government should step in.

How do they refer to the Hamas forces?
I believe both BBC and Sky refer to a UK government proscribed terrorist organisation without calling them terrorists. I see no problem as long as the facts are not being covered up.
I understand that during the war, those that Britain was fighting were never called evil, but always referred to as "the enemy" whatever the story...

Calling Hamas terrorists is upsetting to Hamas supporting Labour supporting Islamists in the UK.
And the lefties at the beeb don't like offending them.

According to the BBC - calling people who are members of a designated terrorist organisation that openly murders babies a 'terrorist' is 'ranting'...

Pat, I care not a jot how Sky or any other broadcaster describes terrorist scum like Hamas because unlike the BBC I am not forced by law to pay for them.

I just dont want to be forced to pay for it.

Here's a thought, King Charles in a scathing statement referred to Hamas as terrorists, but the BBC refuse to. Surely this must be the end for the BBC.

Find a direct quote from King Charles… There isn't one you numpty, because it was released by a spokesperson. A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: 'This is a situation His Majesty is extremely concerned about and he has asked to be kept actively updated.
'His thoughts and prayers are with all of those suffering, particularly those who have lost loved ones, but also those actively involved as we speak.'
He added: 'His Majesty is appalled by and condemns the barbaric acts of terrorism in Israel.'

They also call many groups anti-immigrant when many are openly not anti immigrant just anti mass migration. It confirms my belief that the left are hypocritical in outlook.

This is worth a listen to, describes what is happening in the West Bank where since '67 despite UN opposition Israeli settlers are grabbing land backed by the army and surrounding Arab communities. Unlike Gaza the West Bank does not hold a land border with another Muslim country so they cannot weapons. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uuD0cGKu1Y
