The cost of natural gas has increased by 42% since last week, and OPEC have announced that the cut in production of 1 million barrels a week, announced last July, will continue until January. I have just listened to an economist who said this winters domestic fuel bills may be at least as high as last year.
Grim news for many people, but there is a shaft of light on an otherwise gloomy horizon: This may kick the lunacy of Labour's net zero plans into the long grass. Small comfort for people who will die of cold this winter.

You are going to have to enlighten me here Red.
how does a seemingly massive increase in fossil fuel prices this winter (if your figures are right) "kick the lunacy" of the party currently in opposition plans to prioritise non fossil fuel in the future into touch?

The price of gas has soared this week - from a very low base. It is still cheaper than the rate that failed to get any bidders for wind power the other week.

The price of gas has gone up but so has the cost of of offshore wind. This has been hit by the double whammy of the increased costs of building these massive structures but also by the unexpectedly short lifespan they have in the sea. They had expected them to last 25 years but they're failing after just 5 years.
I'm off grid and I just had to order a refill of my LPG tank and I've been quoted double what I paid last year.
