For the first time since 1988 the conservatives have allowed Nigel Farage to attend their annual conference, and rumours of Lord Farage have been around for a while. It would seem the new centre right Tories going soft on Farage. Excellent news.

They should make him party leader: Instant electoral landslide.

They should make him party leader: Instant electoral landslide. In an earlier interview with Patrick Christys for GB News at the Tory conference, someone who knew Farage was asked if he thought Farage would join the Conservative party, the respnse: only if he could be leader. Of course everyone laughed. But I've just finished watching Farage at the conference (7pm - 8pm) and although the Tories may be softening their views of him, the sentiment is not reciprocated. Even though Farage was at the conference he was quite scathing of the government.

And I don't blame him - they're a bunch of wet wankers.
But I think that Nigel would be the right chap to sort them out.

With respect people calling for Farage to be Tory party leader simply don’t understand the man’s skill set. While I disagree with his politics, I do acknowledge him to be a highly effective publicist and disrupter. He does though have personality defects that make it almost impossible for him to work with colleagues. While I acknowledge that the current Tory party is becoming almost indistinguishable from the old UKIP, He would be an absolute disaster running a major political party let alone trying to run a government. Horses for courses….

Nigel ought to be a Tory party member. He's more Tory than most of them. Although he has plenty of experience as a politician, I don't see him as a leader, as much as an enabler and activist. He facilitated Brexit partly through UKIP in the EU parliament and mostly by frightening the Tories into a referendum. If he became an MP in the Tory party, he would probably be most effective on the back benches. Although the idea of him as PM is a folk lore wish, I can't see it being good for the government, Farage or the country. It's very interesting, though.

I have just him on YouTube accusing them of cowardice over ECHR and of having no big message.

We cannot leave the ECHR without leaving the European Council.
Why would we want to bin human rights.
It is a soundbite aimed at nutters and racists.
The Tories blame anyone but themselves for their failings.

Did we not have human rights prior to 1998?

The Tories blame anyone but themselves for their failings. You mean the Council of Europe. The European Council is an EU institution which we have already left. The Council of Europe is a human rights organisation which we co-founded, in 1949. Have a read of the Convention and see if there's any bits you disagree with. www.echr.coe.int/documents/d/echr/convention_ENG#page=5Our interpretation of the Convention (via Labour's 1998 act and judges rulings) might be flawed, but I can't find anything in the convention itself I disagree with. This is our act if you wish to study it and offer an opinion on that. www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1998/42/contents
