Oh its clearly a massive last throw of the dice with given the state of the polls not much to lose. Problem I suspect is I don't think anyone will believe Sunak believes in this nonsense but it seems he is unleashing Braverman and pretending to believe in populism himself. Personally I think it will be seen as shallow no principle electioneering and crash and burn but time will tell.
Problem for the populist UKIP wing of the Tory party is that if Sunak does unconvincingly run this agenda at the election and gets soundly rejected by the electorate compounding the collapse in polling support when Truss was PM, it will be very hard for that wing to put up a credible argument for more of the same in the post election civil war. Maybe giving up on this election and spiking the long term populist threat to their party is the secret agenda of the Tory machine here.

Sunak hasn’t had an epiphany. He is telling us what he thinks we need to hear.

Sunak hasn’t had an epiphany. He is telling us what he thinks we need to hear. We all know the higher EUSSR ranks are as thick as pig shit but even they must know that treasure Island has dumped their tinpot dictatorship. So how exactly do they think they can collect their bounty?
The EUSSR fines Britain £28 million as bloc accused of 'punishing' UK for Brexit. Judges in the EUSSR have fined the UK £28 million (€32 million) as a result of its failure to impose EUSSR rules on diesel. There are fears in Whitehall the ruling could set a precedent over future post-Brexit dealings with the EUSSR. The penalty, imposed by the European Court of Justice (ECJ), is almost double what was initially recommended by advisers. It is thought to be a warning to Northern Ireland in order to clamp down on potential rule breaking in the region.

I doubt he'd be rowing back on them had he not been forced to recognise that they are massive vote losers. But rowing back will be popular with traditional Tory voters as will changes to inheritance tax and ISA limits. Just when I'd given up hope, the Tories are suddenly saying the right things. Indeed, at long last the Tories actually sound like Tories. Who'd a thunk it. And it's upsetting Dippy. What's not to like?

Sunak hasn’t had an epiphany. He is telling us what he thinks we need to hear. Well indeed. But as long as he acts on it who cares?

And of course hugely popular.

Indeed, at long last the Tories actually sound like Tories. Who'd a thunk it. And it's upsetting Dippy. What's not to like? If “Dippy” is an incredibly immature nickname for me, what on earth makes you think it’s upsetting me. I think it’s so transparent that it’s highly amusing. Only downside is I would have preferred Labour not to get a majority. Have to say I think they will if Sunak goes down this road.

Just when I'd given up hope, the Tories are suddenly saying the right things. [/div][/quote] It's too late, squeezy. We'll judge them on what they have already done, not what they say. They've messed up Brexit. They've overspent, printed money and caused inflation. They've been greener than the Green party with their desperate net zero policy. They've failed to secure energy policy. They've failed to stop the boats.
