wattsupwiththat.com/2023/09/25/noaa-and-the-media-continue-to-misinform-about-climate-change-and-extreme-weather/"The Scientific American, among other mainstreams media outlets, such as The New York Times and The Washington Post, are promoting claims made by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), that climate change is causing increased instances of extreme weather, causing billions of dollars of damage. An examination of the press release NOAA put out shows that the agency’s claims are unsubstantiated. Extreme weather does cost Americans billions of dollars each year, but there is no evidence climate change is making weather worse, so it can’t be the cause of higher costs. In fact, hard data refute NOAA’s claims, suggesting the press release is nothing more than a slick campaign to hype up climate fear Exposing this campaign, climate Scientist Roger Pielke, Jr. Ph.D., Tweeted three years ago: Former NOAA official admits tabulation of “billion dollar” disasters was/is a shadow campaign to get people to “connect the dots” on climate change and severe weather Why not instead rely on actual data, IPCC, USNCA & peer-reviewed research?"

I dont think any one knows the truth, from a users perspective, something is wrong. I was born in 1957,and the weather was predictable, almost to the day, you knew when summer started. Winters were harsh, i needed eiderdowns, blankets,as many as possible, and sometimes all of that wasnt enough. Frost was on the inside of windows, if i forgot my gloves, i had wollen gloves within larger gloves, my hands would be blue, and i would burn my hands on the handle bars of my bike, when delivering papers in the morning. Gloves are not for sale anymore, everyone wore them in the 60s.
And this was in July. Only kidding, it was winter.
It began to warm up about 1970, and hasnt stopped, the latest weather forecast says summer will go well into october, the weather is warming but why cannot be known can it? Knowing why would involve the ability to understand how the world and universe works, the sun affects our weather too. Why forecasters pretend to know owt is beyond me, every forecast should be prefaced by " this is what we think wwill happen."
Common sense though is not a human value. I remember the winter of 63, i remember wading through hip deep snow in my local park and was beginning to panic as to whether i would make it out, it was such hard work, i was six. In the late 1800s there was a mini ice age, the sea and thames froze over.
There is a warming, no doubt about that. As im old i dont give a hoot, sun bathing in late september is fab, thats what i did yesterday im in cambridgeshire, Ely, which has the highest sunshine hours in the country. As to the future, god only knows, human existence is under threat in no end of ways, just keep your fingers crossed, i think humans are too primitive to make the nescessary changes to behaviour that will extend our existence.
Everything comes and goes.
