A government poster has attracted the ire of hyper-sensitive Snats who are bleating that the use of Dennis the Menace and dog Gnasher amounts to cultural appropriation by the devious, thieving Sassenachs.
Prominent amongst the po-faced reactions, Chris Law, the Scottish Nationalist MP for Dundee West whined that the slogan: “Created in London, unleashed in more than 100 countries” was “utter garbage”. “Dundee city created Dennis the Menace and Gnasher through the publishers DC Thomson,” he wrote on social media. “Cultural appropriation is a desperate measure to claim credibility.”
"Gerry Hassan, a political commentator supporting independence, added: “As a proud Dundonian and long-time reader of The Beano as a kid, this is incomprehensible, insulting and predictable.”
Egg on face all round when it was revealed that the poster refers to the animated series which is made in London, not the comic made from dead trees which is still produced in Dundee (as the government readily acknowledges).
Talk about having an attack of the vapours! Pass the smelling salts!

Let's be fair Dan it's about the height of the intellegence of a SNAT supporter.

The CGI TV series was created in London. So by your logic, Harry Potter can be said to have been Created in America, because Warner Bros. produced the film version? Gimme a break!

Harry Potter wasn't filmed in America. Beano Studios, their CGI artists as well as voice actors are in London. Beano Towers, 185 Fleet St, London EC4A 2HS find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/10054526Beano Studios Limited. Company incorporated 2016. This is the product and this CGI series (which is what the poster refers to) is made in London. Why is the CGI series not made in Dundee? Presumably it's easier to make it in London.

There's no dispute about where the CGI was done, but the ad is strongly implying that Dennis the Menace was "Created in London" when he was created 72 years ago in Scotland, which, unless I'm very much mistaken, isn't part of London .

The Beano studios is London . The CGI created version of Dennis the menace was created in London . Most people in the world wouldn’t know where Dundee is . I suggest a tiny footnote saying ‘ originally created in Dundee.’.
