All terms in government they've had, good bits bad bits ugly bits.
I will start a similar thread for Labour.
Do not post good without bad or bad without good.
This is for debate not muck raking.

Well the big negative was Suez, closely followed by taking us into the EU without a referendum and the decision to become New Labour over the past 20 years.
Positives were building the most housing, privatisation program, big bang and winning the Falklands war showing that taking territory by invasion is wrong.

In the cold light of day has the privatisation of electricity been that successful? There has been an underinvestment in infrastructure construction ever since 1989. During the 1980's and 1990's governments around Europe went through a phase of privatising previously nationalised industries. But non went as far as the Conservative government in this country and many people are of the opinion it was a mistake to flog off strategically important utilities to any foreign bidder who wanted to make a fast buck, which is exactly what happened. Many countries who went through a period of privatisation retained control over their power and water industries, if they were sold they could not be sold to foreign companies or governments. In this country however the government sold any industry to any foreign company or government who kept them for a couple of years before flogging them off for huge profits. In short there can be only one conclusion; the privatisation of the energy industry has not been a success for the consumer or the security of the country.
