The local council are providing sod all because they hate to see people having fun, but a few of us will be having a bit of a do at the allotment. We have some fireworks and empty gas cylinders to act as bangers. My boy is fixing the fairy lights and lanterns, the Somalis and East Europeans are providing the kids and the womenfolk will be arranging the food. No guy because a couple of the other plot holders are Irish and left footers when they feel like having a whinge, but even so, it should be fun.
How about you folk?

Just enjoyed halloween as ever , and looking forward to pub friday night and bonfire night saturday.
We used to go around our old scheme asking neighbours for old fences , sheds or anything else that would burn for our bonfire . Now we go to official displays.

 I used to live just outside Ottery St Mary and was a regular at the Tar Barrels, haven't been for 20 years or so, but still enjoy remembering it, if you live down the West Country and haven't been give it a go, tip, wear old clothes and do keep out the way of the bloke with the barrel. www.tarbarrels.co.uk/news-fundraising/ |

I think their relative took them away when they cleared the house. It was good fun to watch tho and I am glad the usual eternally offended have not stopped this trdition. |

Those were the days,when i was a kid we went out in a gang with axes to gather wood for the fire,then on the night we went out with pockets full of bangers which we would light then throw them at each other,looking back it was madness Mum would have killed me if she had known LOL! |

I think Guy Fawkes night should be kept alive. He was the only one who ever stepped into the HOC with honourable intentions. |

No plans we have had fireworks for the last week all around us for Diwali some even in the early hour's daft buggers, we expect more bangs and whooshes Friday and Saturday night

We used to get decent quantities of lathe turnings of magnesium and aluminium from a local tip. Brilliant was the word but you needed a good hot bonfire to ignite them. Nowadays I climb up on to my roof and watch everyone else's display for three or four miles. :-)
