As is typical and expected of supporters and apologists, you are arguing for the Brexit ideology and its own ideals. That is fair enough. I argue for a pragmatic approach in order to achieve prosperity. Since you asked however indirectly -- what I want is prosperity and more prosperity. I figure you can really complain about having to give up an infinitesimal amount of political control and freedom only if you're prosperous. Only if you can afford to complain. So, what I want is an uber prosperous UK with a stable centrist and non-populist government that commands respect and attention among other things. Do I think we can achieve that by leaving the EU? No. It sounds like prostitution. If it sounds that way to you it's probably because you subscribe to the argument that we are all prostitutes. Selling different parts of ourselves -- talent, brains, body, skill.

I take it you're saying everything went downhill from the time it was decided that we would join the EU (i.e., from the EEC to the EU.) -- to which I disagree. No, I am saying it was all promises and lies as usual. The EU didn't live up to anything it said it was and never will. As a trading block it was fine as an expanding empire controlled from Brussels it was a terrible thing. Which as it happens you point out daily without even noticing what you are doing. The EU didn't live up to anything it said it was -- like what?

I wish the bosses of this site hadn't included an EU section.

I wish the bosses of this site hadn't included an EU section. Why? You don't want anyone talking about Brexit and the EU -- that's a bit tyrannical, don't you think?

I wish the bosses of this site hadn't included an EU section. It's all they have wash rinse repeat, if it didn't work last time around it won't the next time either, but it keeps them amused. If only lol.

I wish the bosses of this site hadn't included an EU section. But Brexit has become very topical again, Sal. There was a time not so long ago when the BBC was afraid of the word. It's all over the place now. Exciting times.

Well, most likely if you say so, a bit like save the economy or save Brexit could only be thought by a complete Europhile living in the past.

all of which the EU are currently suffering from - so how would joining the EU improve things? Brexit is causing trade loss, higher prices and labour shortages. Joining the EU will eliminate this cause. Join the EU and you'd see an increase in trade; lower prices; reduced labour shortages. Join the EU and you'd see SMEs that had to set up operations in the EU to circumvent Brexit come back to the UK -- higher taxes, more jobs for the locals. "Higher taxes" should read higher tax revenues. So if we were in the EU we would be the one country in the EU not having an economic crisis? - you are not convincing me..

No. And it shouldn't even occur to you to ask that -- even rhetorically.
