I ask this because it seems government planning & policy is nearly dictated by everyone bar government. Many examples of this arise, to start with we have the media especially left-wing leaning rags. When Boris was in charge the British public were inundated with negative stories about him - a clear agenda to move him on especially in light of Brexit. They talk and report on his predecessor Truss and then when she becomes PM they carry the same negative, avalanche of pressure to remove her (though she did have a hand in her own downfall admittedly). They next report on the possibility of Sunak becoming PM to 'steady the ship', and that's already gone out the window as inevitably they pursue their same negative stories to ultimately oust him. We've had 'the Markets' oust Truss and a global outcry from the likes of Biden to the IMF demanding her to U-turn over her tax cuts in order to stabilise 'the markets' with the aforementioned media gleefully echoing against current economic orthodoxy - spend, spend, spend and raise taxes ad nauseam. Now with Sunak in the hot seat we have some Belgian UN rapporteur telling Sunak that cutting spending in the UK could violate international human rights obligations by increasing malnutrition and hunger - which the Guardian needed no arm in twisting to report: www.theguardian.com/society/2022/nov/02/un-poverty-envoy-tells-britain-this-is-worst-time-for-more-austerityWe had Sunak omitting himself from COP27 because he rightly had more pressing matters domestically to mull over and work through; to straight angling that decision under scrutiny from Tory party members, Parliament in general and international onlookers. We've got what looks like a witch-hunt in the media currently with Suella Braverman talking honestly about how the asylum seeker system is broken and yet we have the MSM more worried about the choice of words she uses rather than the problem itself. It seems to me they don't agree with her stance on how the UK are not getting shot of many of these bogus claimants and will vilify her wherever they possibly can to place enough pressure on her to make her position untenable. Then there is the blob in Whitehall, a bunch of talking heads who all got their shared values and ideologies studying in universities under a monoculture of 'progressiveness' who are no doubt hired on quota rather than merit; that scoffs and knee-jerks to votes like Brexit, and worrying more about 'diversity and equality'. No conservative PM is allowed to stand-by his or her convictions anymore and is easily coerced by the media, talking heads, global institutions like the IMF or the UN, 'the markets' and so on and so forth that it seems almost pointless having a conservative government. Now, I admit to not supporting all of the decisions made by previous PM's mentioned and certain decisions they've have made, but the onslaught and relentless pressure basically to remove a Tory government is so blatant and bias. For me it has been accelerated more by Brexit , but it's beyond ridiculous. The government need to get on the front foot here communicating to the public and pushing back against this clear agenda because they're constant targets of a barrage of negative rhetoric that goes unchallenged.

You can always vote out a government my friend, but you cannot vote out the establishment. This is why the swamp needs draining.

So the media, by actually doing it's job and reporting the government's failings, is actually running the show? What utter crud. Johnson for example only has himself to blame for his various lies and bad judgements being reported. Is this another silly case of Tories failings being anybody's fault but theirs?

So it's other people's fault that Boris couldn't follow the rules? An "interesting" point of view.

It has been philosophized for decades that information is becoming faster and faster, and that democracy by its nature is slow.
This was demonstrated during the COVID pandemic. The UK had less layers of democracy, so it was able to create, manufacture and deliver vaccines far quicker than the EU.
The theory has an end game. Once information becomes instant then it will kill democracy.
Step forward the internet.
