Well not so pointless actually, woke was probably started with good intentions which grew into something rather ugly to shut down free speech, while telling everyone it is all for the greater good, the sooner people turn their back on it or at least distance themselves from it, which is starting to happen all the better for everyone else. What a load of baloney. "Woke" isn't a movement, and noone sets off with the intention of "being woke". Look at the people who use the word on the forum. It isn't the "wokists", it's the GB News and Dailly Mail crew, aided and abetted by said media. Anyone with an ounce of sense knows it is purely an invention. If you say so, but we are still shutting it down, slowly but surely, even some of those here who were stating they were woke not so long ago are turning away from it, they are having a moment with X nowadays.

Woke isn't a word. It has no meaning. It's just an insult used by people with empty heads because they have no arguments. Hence its overuse on this board. Some people just put it in every post, totally pointless. Wrong Woke is a word, and it's defined as ...
Woke definition
adjective
having or marked by an active awareness of systemic injustices and prejudices, especially those involving the treatment of ethnic, racial, or sexual minorities: In light of incidents of police brutality, itβs important to stay woke.He took one African American history class and now he thinks heβs woke. This generation of kids is trying to make woke choices in life.
Disparaging. as used by political opponents, of or relating to a liberal progressive orthodoxy.
So you have no awareness of these things? π€ I was just pointing out your glaring error 'Woke isn't a word'
It most certainly is a word, in the dictionary.

They are employed to keep peace and order RR not price about like a bunch of woke pricks with ants in their pants. Is it social policing to hand out cups of tea and biscuits to those who break the law? Joining in the festivities is one way of keeping the peace, I am sure if the saw something happening they would not ignore it and keep dancing. If handing out cups of tea and biscuits builds relationships, why not. Just to bring the topic back into line rather than argue about a word that is in the Oxford Dictionary.
Is being deaf and blind part of the reqirement now to join the police. Where are the police here rr? And isn't it strange the crime rate seems a lot higher in cities and towns run by LABOUR.
Sworn at and threatened by shoplifters so brazen they don't care who sees them... HARRY WALLOP spends a harrowing day at a Co-op branch that's been robbed 1,000 times already this year
Shop thefts have more than doubled in the past three years, reaching eight million incidents in 2022 and costing retailers Β£953 million
Naomi keeps a red book in the little office at the back of the Liverpool Co-op store that she manages. On the front it says: Santa's naughty list. She laughs when she shows me, but the contents are deadly serious.
They are a log of all the shoplifting and abuse her staff have received since she took over the store in December last year. She is already onto her third book because, in 2023 alone, there have been 1,000 separate incidents.
This is just one small convenience store out of the 2,400 that the Co-op runs in the UK.
I open a page at random β a Sunday in September:
7.09am: Guy wearing green hat and grey jacket shoplifted some sweets and ham, Β£30. 7.23: Woman shoplifted Β£8 bottle of wine. Came back five mins later and got another one. 8.05: Guy shopping scanned through self-checkout without paying, Β£6. 8.18: Man in black cap shoplifted multiple boxes of washing pods. Came back two mins later and stole chocolate, drinks and coffee, Β£35.
'It's just relentless,' she says. 'They turn up with backpacks and strip the shelves.'
Naomi, 41, has worked for the Co-op for 23 years and this is the third store she has managed. For her, the level of shoplifting β and abuse β is unprecedented.
'This is the worst it's ever been. Ever. They are threatening us on a daily basis.'
Earlier this week, one of her colleagues was threatened with having his jaw broken, and another β a female student working part-time β was told she'd be 'jumped' the moment she left the shop.

If woke is caring about people using foodbanks, pensioners using warm banks....... then I am woke. But it is not, it is imposing views onto others through concerted social pressure and making law in areas where law has no business. Quite often to the disadvantage of most of the population and more often against the rights of freedom of speech, freedom of association and freedom to disseminate political views to others. It attempts to make all social interaction a potentially illegal act and brooks no criticism either of its aims or its methods. This what I have been saying all the time. The term woke does not mean what right wingers say it does but they are using it to class all people that they disagree with and attempt to use it as an insult. You are, I would like to believe woke. Woke: alert to injustice and discrimination in society, especially racism:

It is true that 'shoplifting' and other 'minor' crimes are not being dealt with but that is more a case of under staffing and lack of resources that any wokeness you might perceive. The police cannot possibly deal with all the crimes that are being committed even if they turn up at the scene. Braverman, like you and the Mail, blames the police for being woke instead of the government for lack of investment. Do you seriously think, as the government wants you to think, that the police do not want to catch criminals?

The point is often made that too much police resources are focused on politically correct causes rather than petty crime . There also seems to be a bit too much sympathy for shop lifters and petty thieves from virtue signalling lefties . Far more sympathy than for people who post a β bigoted β comment on social media .

You may be right in a lot of ways. Most shoplifters, I would expect, do it out of greed and the full force of the law should be applied to them, but more and more people are shoplifting for basics, baby milk, bread, butter.... should these people be incarcerated? The trick is when 'calling out' lefty wokes is to lump real criminals with those that have real problems and applying their logic to all, a lefty wokey when saying that a person who has been caught shoplifting for baby food or the like, should be treated with compassion is accused of wanting to de-criminalise all shoplifting by the right, it's an easy win for the simple minded. You are doing exactly the same in the comments you have made and do not appear to understand the term differentiation. All shoplifters are criminals, and while that is true should a mother trying to feed her kids be treated the same as a careen shoplifter and 'banged up'?

That is just another strawman constructed in your head . The mother who steals to feed the kids is a criminal because she has committed a criminal act but there is and should be mitigation because of her situation . Your problem is as usual , instead of addressing the point made and/ or asking for clarification, you just made up a straw man .

Wrong again, you honestly think organized shoplifting gangs are shoplifting 'basics' bread, butter, potatoes, eggs and so on ..
They are shoplifting expensive cuts of steaks, joints of meat, spirits, coffee, clothes, electricals and so on ... so they can sell it on the blackmarket, if any one is caught shoplifting basics, then it would be overzealous to start calling the police, but when they are walking out with high end goods to sell then the police should be called and arrests made.

I did differentiate between them but you want to ignore that. Lefty wokies do not want to defend organised criminals or anyone that shoplifts without, what they perceive to be good reason.
