It's completely impossible to negotiate and agreement with the EU because they're basically an OCG (Organised Crime Group). We should have reverted to the state we were in before we joined the EEC where we traded with the EU via WTO rules. After all worldwide tariffs are a fraction of what they used to be and would make little difference.
But of course the "Benn Act" aka the "Surrender Act" made it illegal to do this.

Looking at longer term trends, the share of UK trade accounted for by the EU has fallen. Between 1999 and 2007, the EU accounted for 50-55% of UK exports. By 2022, this figure had fallen to 42%. The share of UK imports from the EU has also fallen since 1999, although by less than for exports.
