Taken from CAPX:
"Michael Gove doesn’t tend to shy away from making big decisions – and he has already made a very significant judgement call just days into the Sunak government.
The newly re-appointed Communities Secretary has decided to end the Government’s work on establishing a formal definition of ‘Islamophobia’ – a problematic term that tends to conflate genuine anti-Muslim discrimination with perfectly legitimate criticisms of religious ideology. Indeed, this was the principal issue with the Islamophobia definition formulated by the all-party parliamentary group (APPG) on British Muslims – one that was riddled with problems and inconsistencies.
The APPG’s attempt was not just flawed, but represented a fundamental attack on free speech and robust intellectual inquiry. This is perhaps unsurprising, given the involvement of the various identitarian activists in its formulation."
The APPG's ludicrous definition - which has been adopted by Labour and the Lib Dems (of course) - was a transparent attempt by the muslims to reintroduce the law of blasphemy - but only for Islam. It was an attempt to outlaw valid criticism of Islam. Their definition is as follows:
"Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness."
Apart from the obvious problem that the term "Muslimness" has not been defined, the obvious intent is to align "Islamophobia" with racism (which is illegal). Yet the examples of "Islamophobia" that have been made against - for example - the Tory party are mainly criticisms of Islam as an ideology. One Tory councillor was cited for Islamophobia when he said that the beliefs of Islam are incompatible with Western culture - which is a perfectly legitimate complaint against a religion that demonises homosexuals and regards women as inferior.
We haven't heard the last of this. Wait for a hysterical backlash from the muslims.
