They want us to think that nobody can be allowed to stand against a dictator without consequences. And of course, it is absolutely right to stand up against dictators, to speak truth to power, to call them out, and, if it comes to it, to fight them. A display of nations currently led by a dictatorial government. worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/dictatorship-countries

I don't want to lose my bank account, my job or my life, which is what's at stake when doing any of those things in this country.

The alternative is you might well lose one or more of what you hold dear potentially your life at worst and at best if you can call it that others like liberty or freedom to speak if you do not take a stand against people like Putin.

Putin has no influence in our country and I have no influence over Putin.

I don’t want you to do anything,I was pointing out the drawbacks of ignoring people like Putin. You do what you like it’s a relatively free place here….for now.

Fat lot of good that attitude would have done in 1939.

An excellent book, I read it a couple of years ago when it was first published. Laura Dodsworth is very good she speaks common sense. Which unfortunately these days is very unfashionable with some people.

Fat lot of good that attitude would have done in 1939. Drawing such bizarre comparisons as part of the rabble rousing? Civilisation in the UK was a lot different back then. People trusted each other. There was a genuine and evolved society where people stood beside each other regardless of the reasons over the war. It was a very different world. Today it's an engineered lunatic asylum arguing over women with cocks and Woke BS, whilst dismissing the ordinary folk as racists and bigots just for wanting to defend our shores!
At the end of the day that war cost the UK its empire and left us in debt to the USA, who then ended up taking over the world and bombing countless other countries. Germany got their country rebuilt for free and now dominates a growing Empire. The UK may as well not have bothered, but of course, we had to declare war on Germany over an agreement we made in regards to Poland, which at the time was "idealistically" the right thing to do.
