..and as expected - the governments answer to the shortage of energy caused by the dash to Net Zero is going to be rationing. The whole point about 'smart' appliances is that they can be controlled by the energy supplier - so if the wind is not blowing the Energy company switches off your EV recharge point.
"Ministers are pressing ahead with new legislation that could see families made to adopt “smart” appliances to ease pressure on the grid."

EUSSR prepares to push for ‘global phase-out’ of fossil fuels at COP28, draft document shows
EUSSR countries are preparing to push for a global deal on phasing out fossil fuels at the COP28 climate summit, a draft of the EUSSR's negotiating position has shown.
Diplomats from the bloc's 27 member states are drafting their position for the summit in Dubai in November, where nearly 200 countries will try to strengthen efforts to rein in climate change.
"The shift towards a climate neutral economy will require the global phase-out of [unabated] fossil fuels and a peak in their consumption already in the near term," a draft of the EUSSR's negotiating stance, seen by Reuters, says.

So its energy rationing and higher bills - now that the costs of this lunatic charge to Net Zero are becoming more apparent by the day perhaps we can start having a real discussion about whether its worth it.

Yet they point blank refuse to replace it with sustainable energy sources. Me thinks something ain't quite right in the minds of these people.

Seems people aren't wanting these smart meters, to be honest they are smart, they automatically change you to the highest tariffs, they make up their own prices, they do everything but save you money, so when I say they are smart, I mean they are smart con artists, you don't expect to be swindled by a little monitor.

Currently, I believe that "Smart" meters can theoretically switch off a customer's supply, but there has to be a court order to do so. To promote electric cars then try to limit/control when they can be charged is not going to make them very popular, is it? The government seems to have come to a time of mixed messages as net zero is being questioned as to it's value to anyone.

It seems going on recent reports that those who fell into the EV trap are not happy by doing so..And as for heat pumps yet another expensive exercise.

The Energy Bill specifically states that 'smart' appliances have to be capable of being switched off remotely by the National Grid so as to be able to control load on the grid.

Who would take any notice of a fool who thinks there is such a place as the EUSSR?

Latimer Alder clearly isn't very bright. Looks like another big mouth and small brain with the ability to mislead.

Why are you bothered AGAIN about what the EU is doing? You left. It has nothing to do with you. You really are like gum or dog mess on the bottom of our shoe.

So its energy rationing and higher bills - now that the costs of this lunatic charge to Net Zero are becoming more apparent by the day perhaps we can start having a real discussion about whether its worth it. So what happens now? My energy supplier has written to me a few times asking me to make an appointment to have a smart meter fitted, thus far I have always said thanks, but no thanks. Will the next letter come with threats of court action if I refuse?
