These days even in the most dire of circumstances I suspect politicians would be frightened of sanctioning the 'snatch squad'. It seems the law today protects any minority, the majority can go to hell in a handcart. But this has not always been the case. Not so long ago if the snatch squad were required, and they often were, they would do their business very effectively. If a mob is causing a disturbance the snatch squad who were always unarmed would rush into a mob, grab the ringleader and drag him out, battering anyone who tried to stop them. It was a risky business, the snatch squad had to know one another, they had to be close. It was the closest thing to war they would ever see. To say it was brutal is an understatement. I jest not it was life & death. I never did snatch squad I wasn't infantry, our job was different. But I have always said I have the utmost respect for the infantry. The pic is a typical snatch squad. The snatch squad are the four men with no weapons shields or helmets. They will also likely not be carrying ID cards. Once the snatch squad go in, the guys with the kit are responsible for getting them out if it goes tits up.
