Too many possibilities, it certainly damages Putin and he may be responsible or pilot error, or Ukrainian drone attack, or repair issues.

Those Embraer jets are about the most reliable on the planet. Never crashed due to a fault. Does Putin care about his reputation any more? I saw a video early on from Telegram which showed a smoke trail close to the aircraft before it dropped. I suspect a missile. |

It will be interesting to see what happens from the Wagner angle, you can bet some of those troops were former Russians in Ukraine and will be mightily pissed off and what if they suspect a US hit to embarrass Putin?
