This Youtube clip of a ex NHS worker describing what he sees as 'the problem', prompted some thought on my part.
Succinctly -
1) A powerful and large bureaucracy has the effective power to overturn reality - to make black white and insist it is kept thus. 2) Because of its dubious real world value (typically such a monster has a negative value), a large bureaucracy will inevitably perceive reality as an existential threat it must defeat to survive.
I would say that the problem is now evident across our entire society. We are in a hole.

It's part of a bigger picture, the Civil Service, Public Sector and any establishment that is tax payer funded, it's all being controlled by the inner circle, and I think we can safely say it's the Remoaners at work.
We are no longer in the EU but we are being brainwashed and controlled to still obey orders and conform to EU legislation. If you think things are bad now wait until Starmer and Labour get to power, with Tony Blair sitting waiting like a Praying mantis to get the ball rolling in full swing so we can rejoin his illustrious EU. ......... nothing down for us then.

Of course the Blair era was the source of the many of the changes that moved the uk from an organic society, with organic status and authority systems, into a gigantic buck passing bureaucratic pantomime with nobody making decisions being accountable for those decisions. The changes were wide and deep. A handy side effect is that without individual accountability matching power, democracy is almost impossible. In my opinion, Starmer will put the capstone on by making it illegal to dismantle the monster

By many recent polls a clear majority of the UK are happy enough to accept whatever EU legislation you find so offensive. And a pity that the UK has ignored the EU 1999 clean water legislation.

Did you even listen to a word in the video? without immediately putting up the EU as an answer.

I replied to FS's kneejerk blaming the EU for the bureacracy you are unhappy about.
As usual, any nrgative features of the UK are still the fault of the EU even though you now have full control of your laws and can get rid of the government whenever you want.
Both are of course part of the lying narrative that made up so much of the Brexit Kool Aid.
It is also another example of the childlike insistence that everything is someone else's fault.
So if you dont like bureaucracy, change it.
But of course that is proving to be extremely difficult because, as you were told and called it Project Fear, that no country that has any connection with any other country will ever be free of bureaucracy.
And how ironic that as the OP puts bureacracy in a poor light, the UK is trying to make more trade deals, creating more bureaucracy.
But i doubt that ever crossed your mind.

Another way of thinking about the accusations I level, is to think about it as a 'competency crisis'
This serious problem is not at all restricted to the UK
