When a water system is not used for 7 days it may become infested with Legionella. The advice is to regularly flush the system in order to prevent this happening. Maybe this wasn't done with the barge? In most cases Legionella just causes mild flu-like symptoms. Fit and healthy young men are at little risk. Perhaps the delays caused by the FBU were long enough for Legionella to breed and be discovered/detected.

Apparently all(15) of the scumbags on the barge have been removed because Legionella bacteria have been found in the water. Nobody could make this stuff up. FFS. According to the BBC the water was tested and clear of Legionella Bacteria before they men were put on board, it was found after they came on board , how or why that happened I have no idea The legionella bacteria is actually quite common in water and all the tests do is confirm its dormant . It becomes active through poor storage and temperature changes . It could be something as simple as heating water that had been poorly stored which would make sense seeing as the barge was ready to go some time ago but only recently used . sorry hadn't seen this was already answered

Legionnaires disease can kill.
One fatality and human rights lawyers would have had a field day.
Right decision to remove them, clean it and then bring them back to it later.

"We have to sort the wheat from the chafe," the idea is to send them to Rwanda to "sort the wheat from the chafe" and then refuse them entry. There is only one way to sort out the wheat from the chafe. Oh for heavens sake have you no common sense at all, it is a well know known phrase for long ago , I think even you can grasp what the Government want to do in Rwanda it may happen it may not, that is why the Government are looking at other options , there are over 136,000 Asylum Applications lodged in the UK that is what needs sorting out as well, plus new arrivals at least another 200 today , plus those who may have got here by others means, all of it needs sorting out. There are quite a number of MP's according to the media today from different party's that would support ignoring the ECHR to try and sort the wheat from the chafe, we have no option. Oh for heavens sake have you no common sense at all, do you not understand why the backlog of asylum claims has got so big and why the boats are still coming to our shores? Why do we have a problem with the small boats, we never used to at least not to the extent we have now?

Jonksy does seem to have learnt very little from his ban sadly. As for the barge , you almost couldn’t make up just how shambolic and incompetent this government is. Serious government needs serious politicians focused on making the best decisions for the country rather than pandering to the tabloids. Can’t say I have huge faith in Labour but this shower just need to go now. It's been sabotaged by the lefty remoaners every step of the way, they don't want it to work, they are using these illegal migrants as a political football, they don't really care a shit about them, but if they can use them to score political points they'll do it.
This will all backfire on them, they forget a big majority of these male young single fit and healthy illegal migrants are in Labour run constituencies, and it's those areas kicking up the most fuss, the people are witnessing the Tories trying to tackle the problem, and we can also witness the lefty remoaners stopping any attempt to sort the problem out.
Who puts them on Labour run constituencies? Oh yes the Tories.

How about the asylum seeker that has TB who was to be housed on the barge? The Tories must be really annoyed this leaked and upset their plans.

The report stating Legionella was present was released on the day the first asylum seekers were boarded. Why did the Tories approve the boarding before they had seen the report? Why did the Tories allow the boarding to go ahead after they had seen it?

Nah it's a waterborne disease which normally occurs in stagnant water both in tanks and in droplets, it can be spread by air conditioning systems and when that happens, it can kill. Bear in mind that for a while, the water tanks and air conditioning on this barge were not in use. And while not in use, water stagnated.

Don't you think it's odd these barges are transported all over the world to house oil rig workers and the likes, yet this appears to be the only occasion this problem has occurred, given the fact they are overhauled by health and safety 24/7
