There seems to be an epidemic of pseudo-science now with people finding correlations and claiming it infers causation which it doesn't, but the pseudo-science practised by the IPCC is more sinister. The IPCC carries out no scientific research but basically selects science that conforms to its own theories and hypotheses and promotes them to governments - hence its title "Intergovernmental Panel". It employs scientists and technicians to run its own models built on science that it agrees with. And when the data doesn't fit these models it "filters" the data to remove the figures that don't fit - when the normal procedure is to change the models to fit the data. And their "settled view" is that CO2 is the primary cause of warming.
This is bad enough, but what's even worse is that for some reason - probably because it writes high level reports that are circulated among govt politicians - this has become the "orthodox" view of climate change. And anyone who tries to say they're wrong is now denied air time on mainstream media (like the BBC) because "the science is settled" despite the fact that their models don't work.
This is what I call pseudo-science because proper science does NOT work like this. In normal science scientists look forward to finding contrary information - information that doesn't fit their theory - because it allows them to improve their theory. They don't delete it. And that's the reason why science has developed such accurate theories so quickly- because of many scientists competing to find the "truth" in a transparent manner. But now any dispute is suppressed by the political orthodoxy. The BBC now regards any other theory as "disinformation" - i.e. deliberate lies, when the disinformation is coming from the IPCC.
It's all very strange. The last time this happened when religious leaders decided to suppress any attempt to show that the Earth orbited the Sun. But now I'm not sure who's actually driving the disinformation. It's not religious or even quasi-religious. I think it's more sinister than that.
