Don't worry, Sid, any attempts to keep decency and morality in society are long dead.

Sex Education has got nothing to do with teaching young people that same sex relationships, or gay people / gay relationships should be viewed as both acceptable and normal.

Sex Education refers to the act of physical sex, usually part of human biology

Section 28, a law passed in 1988 by a Conservative government that stopped councils and schools "promoting the teaching of the acceptability of homosexuality as a pretended family relationship." (BBC)

The law did not apply SPECIFICALLY to teachers, but it covered teachers because almost all schools are under the authority of LEA ( Local Education Authorities ), part of local councils.

Section 28 gagged teachers, it stopped them from offering sensible, sound advice or encouragement to young people, and I have no doubt that it not only caused a lot of psychological harm, but caused suicides too.

Section 28 applied to every school which came under Local Education Authority jurisdiction - it states so in the Act of Parliament, do some research, look it up, check things out before making claims which in the end just make you look stupid.

WHY SECTION 28 WAS ABOLISHED AND THE REASONS GIVEN

(1) That, by excluding homosexual support groups and appearing to prevent teachers from protecting victims of homophobic bullying, Section 28 was actually endangering vulnerable children

(2) The claim that Section 28 made the assumption that homosexuals were inherently dangerous to children, implying an association between homosexuality, bisexuality and paedophilia, as obvious from the "predatory homosexuals" argument of the supporters of the law.

(3) Not only did Section 28 prevent the active promotion of homosexuality, but also it appeared to give a legal reason to oppose it in schools and other forums if necessary

(4) The claim that Section 28 was a law which gave an impression to the public that the government sanctioned homophobia

(5) The idea that homosexuality could be "promoted" implied that homosexuality was a choice which people could be persuaded to make, in contrast to the Section's opponents' view that homosexuality is biologically determined
