According to ITV plod are currently out stopping anyone doing between 20 and 30 in a 30 zone that will be a 20 next month and making them watch a fucking video of how lethal their totally legal driving is.
When i next see a copper on fire in his burning electric car i am going to stand there and laugh my fucking rocks off.
Gwent plod have a fairly twisted sense of humour, it must be said. They lost a chief constable who ran away from his job 20 minutes before being called to the court that was going to rip his epaulettes off for corruptly making a councillor’s parking tickets or maybe speeding tickets go away (this was 2008) and after a stabbing at the bus station led to demands for more policing they sent two pugs with hand held laser guns to stand on the opposite side of the street and bust anyone doing 21 down the newly reduced 20 stretch outside the carbuncle called the riverfront theatre, where they proceeded to ignore three muggings in the bus station they were supposed to be patrolling.
I’m not quite sure where ‘policing by consent’ went round here. But it is now an antisocial crime to piss in the street so coppers round here should stay clear of anything inflammable

Well said JoG, I feel your angst and you know it's not confined to Welsh police. It seems the police these days are hardwired to to take the easy option. And tbh, could you blame a 5ft 8st copper if he pretended not to see a 6ft 12st thug making a nuisance of himself.
I have to say...
..."When i next see a copper on fire in his burning electric car i am going to stand there and laugh my fucking rocks off."
That's harsh, although I concede, it made me chuckle.

Down our way have noticed 20mph signs around schools and even then only 20mph when the yellow lights flash. Seems resonable though we all know there are idealogical zealots out there that have thier own agendas.

West Yorkshire topped the list with a total of 34,862 dangerous driving offences reported, and a regional population of 2,332,500, which equates to an offence for every 67 people. You can still drive dangerously at slower speeds such as tailgating, but if you do hit the car in front less damage and more often than not no serious injuries, if you drive sensibly and obey the rules the Police can't give an FPN

I would say so , but here in London local Council Cameras may send you an FPN for exceeding 20 mph in certain zones, bus lanes

To understand the problem yiu have to compsre shall we say Cwmbran and Newport In Cwmbran the 20 limit is being applied to residential back streets, hospital perimeter toads, school entrances (they are already 20). I have no problem with that. It makes sense and actually i can’t get up to more than 20 on any of them. In Newport the car hating council has out the limit on every road including stretches of rural road joining the town to outlying villages that have historically had a 60 limit because there is fuck all there. I predict 90% of Cwmbran drivers will obey the new limits (a) because they are sensible places to have them (b) places where they would be fucking stupid to have them have been given exclusion orders - to Wankford’s extreme annoyance and (c) as i said - and i had a rallying licence from the RAC in my youth so i speak with some experience - Ari Vatenen would have trouble getting a street car beyond 25 on ALL the roads being limited. I predict 90% of Newport drivers will go faster than they do niw just to fuck the council off. And the REAL problem is this fuckwittery gives wankers on their electric bikes with their ear glued to their phone a sense of fucking entitlement. The stupid bastards already think they can step off the pavement and demand a motorist stop. As a child i was taught the MAIN road was a place where cars drove at speeds that could kill you. So i learned to keep my eyes open. I have already said in an EV thread how the utter fuckwittery that is in common practice today sees grown women emerge from shops with their heads in their phones walking straight across a road with my car going up in - electrically, silently, and an electric bus coming down it, and the stupid bitch just walked straight out. There are NO circumstances in which state encouragement of that degree of utter fucking stupidity is justified.

This has been coming for years,I don’t know why we don’t return to having a bloke walk in front with a red flag, these pillocks will hopefully pay at the ballot box.

Maggie Thatcher ensured that will never happen. Blair knew what he was doing rigging that 1997 referendum with all those postal votes.

That's the thing - it's not addressing any problem, it is just designed to catch people out and stamp authority.
