Tony Blair has said something sensible. This is so rare that I don't know if it's an indication a forthcoming apocalypse or whether it's just an indication of how useless our leading politicians have become. None of them now offer any leadership whatsoever now - just jump on any bandwagon.
And the bandwagon they're all now on is Net Zero - which will cost us all trillions and achieve SFA. But Blair has just said that we shouldn't be charging the people for the costs of Net Zero. And that we shouldn't actually do ANYTHING until we have agreement (and action) from the likes of the USA, China and India. He points out that China can exceed all the UK's output of CO2 in a year by simply building a new coal-fired power station - which they do regularly. Also if we stop producing CO2 completely it would have no effect - and if everyone stopped producing CO2 the IPCC has admitted that it would have no effect on climate for up to 200 years - and that's even if you believe all the CO2 nonsense.
So Blair says that our role should not be in trying to lead Net Zero, as prats like Sunak and Starmer talk about, but to pioneer new ways of creating green energy. Leave Net Zero to the big boys and try to work out a sensible approach to green energy rather than rushing into daft ventures like diesel cars, BEVs etc because the eco-zealots are demanding that we DO something.
I must admit I was quite impressed. This is ACTUAL leadership - not following the pack like lemmings. Just imagine what would happen of Sunak had the balls to say something like this. Starmer would be really shitting himself. Parties like Reform (under Richard Tice) are basically in this position already (they don't back Net Zero) but Tice hasn't quite gone as far as saying we're not going to do any of this green crap until we have some idea of what we're doing and if it will help. Tice is in favour of fracking though and producing more oil - and restarting coal mining - but I think he needs to be a bit more bold and say it out loud.
I begin to understand how Blair won 3 elections.
