The potential collapse in package holidays to regions of excessive heat were such to become the norm is a legitimate concern and not inherently bogus. Even if you might legitimately think that such concerns are a bit premature at the moment. Bogus does not equate to any idea someone does not like the look of. What potential collapse. Not only am i telling you the thread is bogus based on anecdotal evidence , but the thread starter cant even supply a link so we can see what he is gibbering about. Its bogus.
Majorca itself has just had a record breaking tourist season this year , so the heat and lack of finance we are hearing about doesnt appear to be putting people off.
Majorca tourism Mallorca fills up Indications are that the all-time record year - 2018 - will be surpassed

Heatwave in Europe not putting off holiday makers as wet weather continues
THE EXTREME weather being reported in many of our favourite European holiday destinations is not putting people off travelling abroad for a holiday, local travel agents have reported, as the rain continues to fall at home

I'm not convinced that European holidays are under any greater threat at the moment than usual. A lot of local friends have been preparing for their usual French/Spanish/Med/etc vacation, and I haven't heard of anyone cancelling due to the heat. "Package" holidays are probably another matter. Over the past few years, fewer and fewer people I know use such things. Thanks to the Internet, it's so much easier now to book everything for a more bespoke - and, typically, multi-venue - break - without subjecting oneself to some faceless hotel complex built around a pool. (And the savvy customer can often save a lot of money along the way...) A two second google shows reporting that uk holidaymakers are flocking to the med despite the hysteria around temperatures , with the financial times reporting cheap deals to turkey and greece especially being a favourite.
My daughter got us a cracking deal simply by trawling the internet.
I think political outlooks on this thread seem to be clouding reality.

...But it is an obvious potential factor - just another one amongst many - to be concerned about. Why should we be concerned about it? It's a concern for Southern Europe maybe, or rather it would be if the thread, and indeed the whole net zero/climate change agenda weren't totally bogus. But they are, so it's not. Weather's great here btw. 41 degrees. Lovely.π

I think political outlooks on this thread seem to be clouding reality. [/div][/quote] I'm a firm believer in manmade climate change, but I don't think that affects my thinking on this issue. Had I already booked to visit Greece I'd still be going - because I'm not about to sacrifice the money I've already spent. I suspect most holidaymakers (whatever their views as to the reasons for climate change) are similarly ruled by their wallets.

I think political outlooks on this thread seem to be clouding reality. i have to say walter , never in my life have i come across climate discussion in any walk of life wether work colleagues , family or acquaintances. outside of political forums like this .
It certainly isnt by the look of things affecting people visiting the mediterranean .
Your comment about people being ruled by their wallets is why net zero is going to fall flat on its arse.
Any sane thinking person knows this thread is bogus nonsense.

Your comment about people being ruled by their wallets is why net zero is going to fall flat on its arse. Time will tell. Personally, I do what I can. In the short term, I subscribe to a carbon offset program to go some way toward mitigating the excessive amount of travel I'm stuck with, and I shall be moving to an electric car, etc, in due course.
