News of a quite astonishing saga involving an Albanian conman and crook who, with the help of various charities and venal lefty lawyers has been able to bamboozle the authorities and avoid expulsion for over twenty years.
I wonder how many more of the same are present in the UK masquerading under the false identity of refugee or asylum seeker. This character even got as far as conning the Home Office into giving him British nationality before landing in jail brought his true identity to the fore.
The following then is a chronological account of the legal proceedings thus far.
The appellant ‘A’, an Albanian citizen, arrived in the UK sometime in 1999 and subsequently claimed asylum as a Kosovan national. The claim was refused some five years later, in September 2004, and A’s appeal was dismissed the following December. At this point A became an illegal immigrant, subject to deportation, but of course he wasn’t.
Fast forward another five years. In March 2009, A applied for permanent residence (ILR – Indefinite Leave to Remain) under the so-called Legacy Programme, the ‘clear the decks’ scheme (amnesty really) intended to resolve the half-million or so open asylum cases that were turned up in a Croydon warehouse in 2006. Still maintaining the fiction of being a Kosovan national, A’s claim was granted in July 2010.
The lie was repeated in August when Y applied for, and received, a UK travel document from the Home Office. In June 2013 A was granted UK citizenship, again based on the lie of Kosovan nationality.
The lie was eventually exposed in 2019 when the Home Office was alerted by another government department (probably the Prisons Service – see below) of A’s real identity as an Albanian national, Erion Shuti, born 4.7.78 in Berat. In March 2020 the HO advised him of the intention to revoke his UK citizenship. At this point A was in jail, serving a ten-year sentence for serious drug offences imposed in April 2017.
The same month A appealed the revocation decision at the First-tier Tribunal and the appeal was upheld. The HO appealed to the Upper Tribunal which found for the government and over-rode the First-tier decision. A then appealed to the Court of Appeals which dismissed his plea on 4.7.23 (judgment here).
So there we are, after at least six court cases, countless encounters with officialdom and twenty-four years the country may finally be rid of this parasite, assuming of course no lefty lawyer comes up with a Human Rights case which the courts will have to rule on. After 24 years residence, lawful or otherwise I'd have thought an Article 8 case would be a slam dunk for a competent KC. |

Good post Dan. The left wing 'establishment' - politicians, lawyers and charities - are in my opinion worse than the scum they defend, they are little more than tax payer funded traitors. There must be hundreds if not thousands of Erion Shuti's in this country. And with the prospect of a Starmer government next year the situation is unlikely to improve anytime soon.

In the latest (if not the actual final) chapter of the saga, the guilty parties were Hugh Southey KC of Matrix Chambers and Alasdair Mackenzie. Matrix Chambers it may be recalled is Cherie Blair old gaff, which she founded in readiness for Hubby Tone's creation of the HRA. The solicitors involved are a Birmingham based outfit, TRP, self-styled as 'One of the leading Human Rights practices in the country. Since a KC and leading junior don't come cheap, and legal aid won't even buy their lunch, I suspect the presence of an anonymous funder as well, no doubt one or more of the dozens of well-heeled, taxpayer subsidised 'charitable trusts' that concern themselves with 'migrants rights'. I've long thought it one of life's inner mysteries why the legacy media haven't gone to town on this national scandal but conclude it's a question of wheels within wheels. |
