If you think that Greta Thunberg 1 gave HERSELF the job of the face of net zero 2 can be compared with Mandela then you are debating from a point of delusion and ignorance . Mother Theresa was a wicked bastard who hob nobbed with some very nasty rich men and built up a great deal of wealth but denied pain killers to those in her care . What makes your version of her right and mine wrong? I have watched interviews with her an d I see nothing of the girl you describe. I see only an intelligent young lady trying to get people to recognise climate change. She even refuses to discuss some issues as she knows that she's a trigger for some people. Either way she chose to give up the life of a teenage girl and spend the precious youth travelling around the world talking to politicians. what ? Ranting ‘how dare you’

There is not much more substance to her than that . There's loads. the young climate activist from Sweden, has inspired millions around the globe with her uncompromising stance on climate change and her rallying cry for immediate action. Despite her youth (or perhaps, through her youth), she’s sparked a worldwide movement, urging us all to understand that when it comes to preserving our planet, there’s no time left to wait around. Her stirring speeches at various global platforms, her candid dialogues with world leaders, and her impactful “School Strike for Climate” (or “Fridays for Future”) initiative have made her a powerful voice for the Earth. “Our civilization is being sacrificed for the opportunity of a very small number of people to continue making enormous amounts of money. Our biosphere is being sacrificed so that rich people in countries like mine can live in luxury. It is the sufferings of the many which pay for the luxuries of the few.” — Greta Thunberg, in a speech at the UN Climate Change COP24 Conference, 2018 To all of you who choose to look the other way every day because you seem more frightened of the changes that can prevent catastrophic climate change than the catastrophic climate change itself. Your silence is almost worst of all.” — Greta Thunberg “We have not come here to beg world leaders to care. You have ignored us in the past and you will ignore us again. You’ve run out of excuses and we’re running out of time. We’ve come here to let you know that change is coming whether you like it or not. The real power belongs to the people.” — Greta Thunberg, in a speech at the UN Climate Change COP24 Conference, 2018 Any of these speeches could easily be assigned to Nelson Mandela.

Yup Greta comes out with a stream of hackneyed cliches straight out of school lunch time debate society and she’s right up there with a terrorist that did 40 years in jail and ended up as President of South Africa . Remember when I claimed that Eco worriers had a cult mentality? I could be right .

what ? Ranting ‘how dare you’ One tiny comment. She also makes absurd, apocalyptic climate predictions When these predictions were touched on here recently, the defence seemed to be that she wasn't a scientist and so shouldn't be taken seriously on these matters? However, the media appear to portray her as a visionary and expert - ie someone who should be listened to.

There is not much more substance to her than that . i’ve posted my ‘green’ credentials on here a few times. I was being paid to use the skills my B.Sc gave me (as opposed to the theory i learned) to research the economics of solar energy capture when that little girl’s parents were barely adolescents. There is an entire army of cultists standing waiting to destroy, not by the power of argument, but just destroy, erase, eradicate any attempt i might make to point out the gaping holes in the mathematical models her cult cling to like the bible. I would perhaps have some respect for her if she gad completed her schooling and was able to use the knowledge it gave her to sit down with me and go through the maths. But her parents chose to take her out of school and rant instead Which is why she is a whiny, uneducated little shut who equally whiny uneducated politicians have chosen to hand a fucking shitload of undeserved acclaim and far more undeserved money. Back when i was getting paid to do that research there was a program on telly called the great egg race. With two academics, one who in appearance seemed to be utterly barking mad. The other hailed from a northern university and was quite an expert on the thermodynamics of solar energy capture. It’s a shame her cult has no one of his calibre. I might listen to them if they did. Oh yeah. The utterly barking mad one invented those little sticky electrodes and the gel solution that they use to attach ecg and similar sensor wires to you. Anyone who has ever had a paramedic or a nurse wire to up using them needs to get on their knees and give thanks to that guy for having given doctors the means to capture all those electrical signals.

However, the media appear to portray her as a visionary and expert - ie someone who should be listened to. ok i’ll take up that one Are you looking to debate her methods, or the argument behind it. She should not be taken seriously several reasons. Mostly hypocrisy. In my last post i referred to that chap with the background in mechanical engineering. I cant remember his name it was ages ago I recall his taking the podium at a ‘meeting of minds’ organised by the political elite behind the centre for alternative technology at Machyntlleth back in about 1980. One sentence in his entire sprech impressed me beyond any other. It was that we should measure the success of this symposium by the amount of energy saved worldwide by adoption of its ideas, and we should start by subtracting from that balance every gallon of fuel burned by every airplane used to bring people here. To which i must add one five letter word Davos Greta’s infamous voyage across the ocean to address whatever collection of business class airfreighted politicians in which she shat in a bucket to address the issue of energy consumption was ever so slightly marred by one tiny little thing The international flights taken by her entire support crew to collect the bloody boat snd sail it to her in the first place. This is basically typical of her whiny little rants I recall she even tried pulling the sane stunt as Corbyn on a suppisedly overcrowded train. Which was rather effectively derailed by the staff onntbe train who served her at her first class seat. As i said, if she had the intelligence snd education and knowledge to debate the mathematical models her cult builds its theology from i’d find time to lay out a proper challenge to her. But thats not how she works her cult is it.

not sticking round to say if you believe the bull ? Took a day off from the BS. Yes I believe Greta, but I realise I'm alone in this. Unless you count 90% of the worlds climate experts. But experts are so last year don't you think?

But that can always be overlooked where religion is concerned, eh?
