Scotland Yard opens investigation into top Tory Sir Bernard Jenkin over claims he broke Covid rules by attending 'party' in Parliament during lockdown.Scotland Yard has opened an official investigation into allegations of a lockdown rule-breaking party in Parliament attended by a senior Tory MP. The Metropolitan Police confirmed today it has launched an official probe into a gathering on December 8, 2020, said to have been attended by Sir Bernard Jenkin. Sir Bernard, the chairman of the Liaison Committee, has faced criticism and allegations of hypocrisy from supporters of Boris Johnson after it was claimed he was at an event to mark his wife's birthday, at which drinks were served. link
LOL, what comes around goes around. I bet Boris is loving this.

Indeed I wonder what Harriet will say about bringing the committee in to disrepute,he’s innocent till proved otherwise mind, but then I don’t follow Harriet’s thought process.

He was one of Boris's main interrogators and accusers, now he faces the same accusations he put to Boris. Yes indeed he's innocent until proven guilty, but the fact that for weeks he and his wife have refused to comment on this suggests he has something to hide. I wonder if Harmon will be equally scathing about her chum Sir Bernard as she was about Boris.

However, as you know because it has been pointed out to you before, the committee investigation was not into whether Boris attended parties, but rather whether Boris lied to Parliament. Not the same charge at all.

I hope Boris is enjoying this.

You care not a jot whether what you say is true or not? Interesting.
No, I'm not bothered about Sir Bernard either. And as for Boris, he only came out with this after the report came out. Comes across as "umm, I'm telling on you", which shows as someone not fit for office. I think we both know that.

Johnson will and has said anything to paint himself in a better light and that is exactly what he has done here. Don't get me wrong if Jenkins and indeed the deputy speaker broke the rules they should be held to account.
None of this changes the fact that Johnson knew parties were happening and lied about it.
The sight of Tories fighting amongst themselves is a very sad indictment of the state of our country at present.
