Khan was in court at 10am this morning to defend his low emissions zone. The outer-London boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Harrow, and Hillingdon, along with Surrey County Council launched legal action in February over the proposed extension of Ulez. If the Ulez is granted, the new borders will reach as far as Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, and Surrey. A High Court judge gave the councils the green light to bring the challenge, which suggests there's a case to answer. A two-day hearing began on Tuesday morning before Mr Justice Swift, who will give his ruling at a later date. Fingers crossed, lets hope common sense prevails and Khans insane Ulez plans are kicked out. link

An awful lot of people in London are not happy with him at all, he is putting people out of work making it more difficult for people to get to work, more expensive , shops will lose trade, some man bands that cannot afford new vans will go to the wall, there was little if any consultation by him with the people.

It's a great shame that such a worthy idea - severely limiting the use of petrol and diesel vehicles - has come to be associated with a controversial figure like Khan. Other cities, especially on the continent, have implemented sensible and necessary LEZ schemes without controversy. Of course it helps that most such cities have properly functioning, efficient and cost-effective public transport systems, usually including extensive tram networks, available for would-be car drivers to use instead.
I've just returned from Brussels which has such a network for which a day ticket costs €8; the cheapest day pass on the TfL system costs £ 15.20

We do all know that the government has set the legally binding targets for clean air and that Khan is 'following' orders, don't we?
