Says the man who supported the white racist regime of Ian Smith in Rhodesia and who thinks there are too many Jews in the legal profession. More rubbish from the bin man.

In two weeks time we might have an emphatic indication of what the result of the next general election will be — on 20 July there are by elections in Somerset and Frome, Selby and Ainsty, and Uxbridge and South Ruislip, the third of which is likely to be the most followed and commented on...

The real Labour, the destroyer of the NHS speaks ..
Let patients pay to skip NHS queue, says Tony Blair amid warnings ailing service may not survive another five years and that record waiting list will keep rising (but Steve Barclay insists 75-year-old system can thrive without drastic reform) NHS patients should be able to pay to access care faster, Sir Tony Blair has said Health Secretary admitted service needs to adapt but it should not be 'big bang'

To understand anything about mainstream politics, one has to understand the two spectrums - The Political Spectrum and The Voting Spectrum.
There is a centre point to both, and evidence points to "Centre Left" been a winner, as opposed to the old fashioned, more orthodox Socialism.
Which successful Left of centre political parties in Europe spean of "socialism" ? ... none
Would a self employed plumber who's a floating voter, vote for a party that promotes unilateral dissarmament, republicanism or raising taxes on business and commerce. ?
Corbynism is tribal, all it speaks of is "The Working Class" and is narrow in its appeal, the 1970s are over, never again could a political party get into government by aiming its appeal to a particular class and trade unions.

The way unions in many sectors are currently buggering up the lives of so many people, targetting conciliatory messages specifically at unions and their members might not play well with voters.
Simple all-embracing messages appear to work best. Complicated and extensive manifestos don't do it...

Corbynism is tribal, all it speaks of is "The Working Class" and is narrow in its appeal, the 1970s are over, never again could a political party get into government by aiming its appeal to a particular class and trade unions. back a good few years ago on a forum preceding this one a labour voter with a slot at the conference podium put a request in for people to review the paper he was to present In his view the self employed plumber was as much a victim of labour and particularly gordon brown’s nasty S660 entrapment after his inducement to the self employed to incorporate. He put the view that most self employed people wanted to get on with putting food on the table and viewed the unbelievable degree of hostility from both labour and tory as beyond parody. His view was that the party should reach out to such people and see them as part of their natural voter base, coming as most did from the lower echelons of earning power. He was, of course, ridiculed. I think he was right though. And of the three things you mention, i suspect only one, tve tax treatment of his attempt to put food on the table and a roof over his head, plus a forth, the sheer volume of paperwork and the stark aggression shown by the parties to anyone seeking to make a living in the shit we find ourselves are key factors.
