Pacifico is right here some people expressing their delight because they revel in seeing someone they don’t like being treated in this way, frankly they should be ashamed of themselves and their motives.
Regards the ludicrous brainwashed by brexit comment it now appears a vicar had his account closed because he contacted a building society to ask why they were promoting lgbtq issues and politely by all accounts.
He is entitled to his opinion and they could’ve replied their reasons but chose to close his account, interestingly he said they are a financial institution and should stick to managing finance,he’s right insofar as closing accounts because they don’t like someone’s views.

Are the banks allowed their opinion as well? Should banks be forced to provide everyone a bank account?

Bankers should stop thinking they rule over all things including what someone is allowed to think.

Yes, it's blatant discrimination based solely on not liking somebody. The entire bank obviously has a very singular view, which is obviously shared throughout the entire banking industry in the country.
It's financial and political tyranny.
Those who hate democracy and promote the EU will support it, which alone should be a real eye opener for those who want to see the EUphile in their true form, which is pure hate and not the virtue signalling drivel they want you to see.

That is not what you think (That I have to be woke etc) Its I have to read public opinion and remain at least neutral and if possible positive. I have to say in this case I think the closed accounts are more likely to be about financial behaviour than political.

It wont be the entire bank, they wouldn't have had a vote on it. It would have been one or two peoples decision.

If this were the case, where you're suggesting it's a mistake or the act of an individual, then his account would have been reopened on appeal and he wouldn't have been refused elsewhere. I'm afraid your post borders on fantasy.

Once, people understood and accepted that having freedoms meant that people you didn't like had those freedoms too. Now it seems society will eagerly give freedoms away - not because society has forgotten how important those freedoms are, but because tribalism has reached such intensity that people are willing to surrender treasured freedoms as long as they get to see and laugh about other people they don't like. I suppose its all part of the march towards a WEF future.. I have seen how these people operate in the Labour party. Anyone who does not totally think the way they want you to is an enemy to be destroyed. Here is one of the latest examples.... www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/jun/30/labour-expelling-mp-activist-neal-lawsonCan you imagine these control freaks in control of the country and its secret services?

I think they should, as a quid pro quo for colluding over decades with the enforcement of a society where it is becoming virtually impossible to function without one

Bullshit! Those who support neo-liberalism, freedom of contract, and unregulated capitalism will support it. Farage is opposed to regulation in the finance industry, so let him live with the consequences.

I would support a national bank to protect the vulnerable from the worst of private banks behaviour.

I wrote a reasonably lengthy reply which promptly vanished, bit miffed may do it all again but save it bit by bit

Banks are not the master of all things so get over yourselves. Banks are the engine of a capitalist economy. When they fail, capitalism fails. Take a look at what happened in the Great Depression and 2010.
