Downing Street today [Yesterday] dismissed calls from former Tory chancellor Philip Hammond to relax immigration rules to cool the economy by using foreign labour to undercut the wages of British workers.
Lord Hammond (Who is paid £332 a day for signing in) said that the move could act to bring down stubbornly high inflation being driven by rising wages without the need for interest rate rises hammering homeowners.
