Even Theresa May stood up in this shameful debate and had a go at Boris. It takes some brass neck for the prime minister who said "Brexit means Brexit" on so many occasions to accuse Boris of misleading parliament. She assured the public on many occasions that she would deliver Brexit but actually sidelined her Brexit secretary and gave the job of negotiating Brexit to Olly Robbins - a civil servant who was a lifelong EU supporter and who didn't want to leave. He was in the process of basically leaving the UK in the position of a colony of the EU - completely bound by its rules but with no say in anything. And it was Boris who called this BRINO sham out and, despite the efforts of all of the Labour party, most of the Tory party and the Speaker of the house, he managed to get out of the EU - as the people had voted for. THAT's integrity Theresa May - you lying bitch. The fact that Boris didn't get a great deal is entirely the fault of those who fought so hard against him. In particular Hilary Benn was to blame for his Benn Act (the Surrender Act) which made it impossible for Boris to leave without an agreement from the EU. Can anyone think of a more crazy - and treasonous - act? Yet this fucking heap of shit, Theresa May, stood up in Parliament and slagged Boris off for lying about parties in No 10. FFS. But she must have been slightly worried about he own record of misleading the public on far more serious matters, because she said, in her sanctimonious speech, that: " we all know that in political debate there is “exaggeration, careful use of facts and sometimes misrepresentation”. So this is alright apparently. It's perfectly OK for MPs to "mislead" by exaggeration, by selective use of facts (i.e. not telling the whole truth) and misrepresenting the truth - but this is apparently fine. This is a kind of Alice in Wonderland world where "words mean what I want them to mean". The whole fucking lot of them are liars. Starmer's a proven liar and Rishi Sunak's lies about the "Windsor frame-up" were far more egregious than anything Boris ever said. Yet this is all OK. It's just so fucking obvious that this is a remainer/establishment stitch up to punish Boris for Brexit. It's like what's happening to Trump in the USA. The Left are determined to destroy both Boris and Trump. And we're just letting them get away with it.

We are just gletting them get away with it because we have an election every 5 years, where they make promises, in between times they do as they like. Maybe 5 years is too long.

If this report hadn't have been voted through it would have meant the end of democracy in this country. MP's would have been given the all clear to tell whatever lies they liked with impunity. Trumpian in the extreme. The vote was bigger than Johnson and party politics.

Having watched most of the Boris debate yesterday I felt strongly that once again politicians of all sides simply proved how unsuitable they are for their positions. Hypocrisy and vengeance swept through the House with most of the speakers showing their true colours of simply wanting to point score. They are nothing more than a lynch mob seeking more and more ways to punish a man who didn't kowtow to their inadequacy.
Boris Johnson is not PM material and never was but he was the maverick that this country required in order to carry through the Brexit decision. The outcome of this enquiry is despicable particularly in view of the clear run that the biggest liar of all, Blair. has been allowed. The House of Commons degraded itself yesterday in full view of any who were watching. Sadly most will rely on the headlines of their favoured sources and be carried along on the wave that suits. Just how much lower can politics sink?

"Statesman-like" is to admit that either you are wrong, or that you got it wrong, or that your side got it wrong, and that a leader from your side got it wrong.
There is no doubt, and no question that Boris Johnson broke rules, told lies, then lied to Parliament, and Theresa May, though a Tory, is far more honourable and honest that Boris Johnson could ever be.
She ( Theresa May ) did not stall on Brexit, it was Parliament who stalled on Brexit, and Mrs May could not push through a House of Commons which was majority pro Europe.
Those that call this a "witch hunt" are deluded, what do you think SHOULD happen to a person who makes the rules and then breaks the rules ? ... what do you thing ought to happen to a Prime Minister who tells lies and then dishonours the legitimacy of Parliament ? ......Nothing ?

Getting back to thread, albeit briefly lol, it should come as no surprise to anyone that Mrs May delivered a scathing statement about Boris. Ever since Boris replaced her as prime minister she has never missed any opportunity to publicly rubbish him. In fact she so often criticises Boris it would have a bigger story if she had not shown up to rubbish him. And for the record, Lord Pannick KC who is a very eminent lawyer says the committee has not proven Boris's guilt and the proceedings would have been thrown out of court.

The country already suffers from short-termism with five years. This tends to encourage administrations to concentrate on the quicker bits of legislation they can use as selling points at the next election. Fixed term wasn’t given a long-enough trial. Attempting more complicated legislation, and having to campaign with unfinished business doesn’t appeal to MPs worried about their seats…

Real pity Parliament didn’t pass the report and recommendations without any dissent. What happened shows that there are at least seven MPs who do not believe in the sovereignty of Parliament…

Come on, who are you trying to kid here? Did you even listen to the debate? Examples of Johnson lying, admitting subsequently that what he said was not the truth, but then going on to say it again repeatedly anyway when the facts themselves were demonstrably untrue. Every non-deluded person knew he was a liar before he even got the job. Sacked by a newspaper for inventing quotes. Sacked by a former Tory leader for lying about an affair. And repeatedly lying at the despatch box. If you cannot see him for what he is you must be blind and deaf.

I listened to some of it, to be honest it got a bit repetitive, it was Boris bashers doing what Boris bashers do. You talk of facts, but are you aware that eminent lawyer Lord Pannick KC said the privileges committee report has not proved Boris Johnsons guilt and the findings of the committee would be ruled unlawful in a court of law.
