It does indeed seem like a senseless decision. If he is going to send him to prison anyway, why release him in the meantime, running the risk of flight or even possibly reoffending? Even if for reasons specific to the case, both are unlikely what is to be gained by his temporary release? If he had been remanded until sentencing, the time served on remand would be counted as part of his prison term anyway. So however you look at this, releasing him makes zero sense |

But what more can you expect from a lefty council run madhouse? A judge has nothing to do with local councils, lefty or otherwise. Our judges in this country are independent of political oversight, thankfully. This judge's questionable decision is his alone. |

Another idiot judge. Perverse stupidity seems to be part of the job description these days. Well this might well be one of those rare moments of agreement between us. I have long since noticed such anomalous phenomena as driving whilst disqualified being taken far more seriously sentencing widse than watching kiddy porn. Now of course the former is unacceptable, but every person with a functioning brain cell and anything resembling a conscience knows that the latter is far more serious. I notice stupid anomalies nearly every week, like people getting longer sentences for not paying their TV licenses than they do for beating the hell out of someone. |

A judge has nothing to do with local councils, lefty or otherwise. Our judges in this country are independent of political oversight, thankfully. This judge's questionable decision is his alone. Total rubbish ask smarmer. Have you even bothered to read the rules for this subforum? It is a place for intelligent debate without offensive language. And your risible attempts at cheap political point scoring are laughable. Where is your evidence that the judge concerned is either some kind of lefty or controlled by lefties? Otherwise it is a mere opinion, apparently divorced from reality. |

Burglars rarely go to prison these days for the first offence. This rapist should have been detained once found guilty. If the judge needs more reports, the probation service or social workers can visit him in prison. They do it all the time, when required. I'm appalled. They do need to be enforced though, and time will tell whether that is so. |

The sentences seemed typical of most drug trafficking sentences, and rather more severe than most paedophiles get. There is I would argue an imbalance here. I see no evidence that the judge is a puppet of left wing politicians. |
